Yoshino Japanese Restaurant has received high praise from its customers. Here are some of the actual reviews from customers:
- "I’d like to tag Yoshino’s with 5 stars. I’ve been coming here since the Seventies and it’s a family restaurant. However, "some" things have changed. The ownership, for one. There’s an intangible element missing that the previous owner (Mrs. Yoshino) had. Not as warm. But the food is down-to-earth. Sorry if this comes off as less-than-whatever, but Americans who haven’t been to Japan would love it. One downer for me, a litmus test for Japanese restaurants, is tea. Yoshino’s didn’t pass the test. Bland, unremarkable. That said, I would definitely recommend Yoshino’s to anyone seeking a foundational experience with Japanese food."2
- "When we stepped in the door, we were asked if we had a reservation. "No," we said. She mumbled something, then completely ignored us–two respectable, elderly men. Eight tables were empty. We waited, thinking they would surely seat us. Nothing. When I finally spoke up, she said the tables were reserved, and we couldn’t order sushi, because it takes so long. They finally showed us to a booth. My ten-don (tempura over rice) was mediocre at best. Tempura isn’t easy; this was just passable. The rice was cheap and tasteless. (Having lived in Japan, I know good rice.) The udon dish was pretty good. Service was slow and rude. We had to ask three times for water. When we left, the eight tables were still empty. They acted as if they didn’t want our business. They certainly won’t get it in the future."2
