Vikings Portugal River of Gold River cruise on the Douro River was a wonderful experience. Although the Douro doesn't have the castles you find on the Rhine, the complete package makes it a cruise you might want to take. We did a pre and post package starting in Madrid and ending in Barcelona Spain (3 Days Each). Add the pre and post with two days in Lisbon Portugal at the start of the cruise and you will get to have that well traveled experience that comes with seeing the world. The actual river cruise is 8 nights and starts in Porto, Portugal. It's down the Douro and back where you'll see so many different sites. Love the hills with the wineries and the excursions to some of the special cities on the route. Viking does it right with some great dining along the way. As for AffordableTours, Linh Nguyen was our agent and she is fantastic. I'm sure she will find you savings you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. She's on point with service.
