Ancestors Cafe + Catering is a locally appreciated restaurant at 2956 Teagarden St in San Leandro, CA, with a daytime menu shaped by Mediterranean, Peruvian, and a few American-style options. Located in a small business park, it is a convenient destination for breakfast, lunch, coffee, and takeout during the workweek. Its 4.8 rating from 100 reviews reflects recurring customer praise for fresh, flavorful food and a smooth ordering experience. For people searching for a varied San Leandro restaurant rather than a single-cuisine menu, Ancestors Cafe + Catering offers an interesting mix of familiar cafe fare and dishes with distinct cultural influences.
Customer comments identify several worthwhile choices for a first visit. Breakfast burritos, carne asada quesadillas, salads, and soups are all mentioned positively, making the menu useful for an early meal or a quick midday pickup. The Ancestors salad has been described as delicious and notably generous; one customer felt its size could work for two people. Sandwiches are another reason to explore the menu. Reviewers specifically praise the lomo saltado sandwich and pan con chicharron, while a Peruvian diner reported that the Peruvian dishes met their expectations. That range makes this a fitting stop for diners who enjoy trying different flavors without needing to choose from a narrowly defined menu.
Knowing the setting in advance helps guests plan their visit. Ancestors Cafe + Catering does not offer indoor seating. Instead, there are a few outdoor tables and chairs under a sun sail in the parking area, so the experience is best approached as casual and practical. It works well for takeout, a quick meal between errands, or an informal outdoor break, particularly for nearby workers and small groups comfortable with limited seating. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and is closed Saturday and Sunday. These weekday morning and early-afternoon hours make it a natural choice when breakfast or lunch is the priority.
Catering is an important part of the Ancestors Cafe + Catering experience. A business customer who ordered breakfast catering twice described both the food and the process as consistently positive and smooth, with breakfast burritos among the items they enjoyed. That feedback is helpful for offices and teams in San Leandro, CA, looking for a local restaurant to consider for a workday breakfast or lunch order. For individual diners, the same mix of salads, soups, quesadillas, and sandwiches supports an easy meal on the go. Visit with the outdoor seating setup and weekday schedule in mind, and let the menu guide a fresh, flavorful lunch or breakfast.

Sign in to reviewIt's basically a storefront at a small business park that serves Mediterranean food and a few American-style items too. The food is fresh and flavorful. However, there is no indoor seating, so it's either a take-out option or there are a few tables and chairs available under a sun sail in the parking lot.
Our business has ordered their breakfast catering twice now and its been a great experience. The food is delicious and the experience went very smooth. We will continue to support this local business and I suggest you do too. Love the breakfast burritos, carne asada quesadilla, salads and soups. I've literally never had a bad meal here and the service is always friendly and quick.
Interesting menu. It's a mix of different cultures, so it was refreshing to see. I ordered the Ancestors salad and it was delicious. Really big too, good for 2 people. Would definitely go back. Seating is outside in the parking lot, so be prepared.
Today we tried this place for the first time. We ordered a lomo saltado sandwich and a pan con chicharrón. They were SOOOO good. I’ll definitely come back for more. Note: I’m Peruvian and we are used to eating Peruvian food on a daily basis and the Peruvian dishes here did not disappoint 😋🤤
I was casually browsing for a place to grab coffee when I stumbled upon Ancestors by accident. After glancing at their menu, I was immediately intrigued by their offerings and decided to give it a try. When I arrived, I asked for their most popular sandwich, and they recommended the chicharrón pan. It arrived warm and perfectly assembled, with crispy, golden chicharrón that had just the right balance of crunch and tenderness, paired with fresh bread and flavorful accompaniments that tied everything together beautifully. Every bite was deeply satisfying and full of savory richness. I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. I definitely recommend this place—and to top it all off, the coffee was excellent: smooth, aromatic, and the perfect complement to the meal.
