Sign in to reviewThis wasn’t just a haircut; it was an EXPERIENCE!!! 😩🫶🏼 The owner was super friendly and hospitable (the coffee he made me was so good). You fill out a form when you arrive and get complimentary services, which is already so nice, but what really stood out to me was the option to choose “I need quiet time” or “Chat away.” I can’t remember the exact wording, but as someone with autism, that small detail made me feel seen and cared for. Gus the dog is sweetie. 🐶 The entire customer experience impressed me, from the snack and drink section (with a wide variety) to the complimentary add-ons. The area you get your hair washed felt magical! 🪄 It was so comfy and relaxing, low lighting, calming music, a scalp massage, and a heated eye mask. It felt like a spa! 🧖♀️💆🏻♀️ My stylist, Michelle, cut my hair exactly how I wanted. Overall, I loved everything about my visit and will definitely be coming back!!! 💯💗
I'm editing this post. Thank you Apotheca for taking care and fixing my hair. Megan fixed my hair and she did an awesome and thorough job. As soon as i got into my car after my appointment, i started crying. I had been looking forward to getting my hair done, (moved to austin 3days ago too) and i left feeling so disappointed i had high hopes for my first visit because im ngl everyone at the salon was very kind, attentive, and the salon itself had a nice atmosphere. but unfortunately, the haircut was disappointing the layers look like stairs instead of layers;they are harsh and choppy lines with no blending. the blowout was also disappointing. my hair wasn't really smooth, shiny or even fully detangled!! i get my hair might be kinda on the dry side but usually after a salon appt your hair feels so amazing you dont even want to wash it because of how soft it is. but mine looked uneven, frizzy and unfinished Great vibes, but not a great haircut. i understand mistakes can happen.I was also too shy to say something at the moment because I didn’t want to make my hairstylist feel bad. but all I wanted to do was leave, cry, and chop all my hair off. the only thing that looked good were my bangs because my hairstylist didnt touch them. i take care of them and im kinda grateful i do. and also; 20% off first time clients? i paid full price
Steffan and Michaela are absolutely super hosts! I had an incredible experience because of all the added attention to detail extras. I had a wonderful extended scalp massage with my hair wash. Michaela was attentive and thoughtful about my wishes for my haircut. She consulted expertly and gave me the best blowout I have had! I highly recommend her and the salon. Steffan is a brilliant salon owner and has curated the haircut experience to next level!
I came to Apotheca after I completely messed up my hair bleaching it myself. Michaela did an amazing job fixing it! She was super patient, explained everything, and really paid attention to keeping my hair healthy. The color turned out exactly how I wanted, and my hair looks so much better now. The salon is also really cozy, and everyone was so nice. They even offered drinks and snacks during my appointment. Overall, such a great experience. Definitely recommend Michaela!
I have been hesitant to make this review, since I don't tend to consider myself a "Karen". But, I feel like other brides deserve to avoid the same injustice as I have faced... This salon is beautiful, the owner is full of spunk and personality, it is highly inclusive and every time I came in, I left feeling wonderful. However, my bridal hair was completely butchered. :( Before I start with the details, it's worth mentioning that we had an elopement style wedding, with 35 guests and 3 hours. We eloped at Chapel Dulcinea before having pizza at an Airbnb. I highly expressed my small budget. Inquiry: When I reached out, I requested Lana Del Rey inspired structured curls and provided the inspo picture (attached). I did mention that I would likely need clip-in extensions installed because I have type 1a thin hair and a root-braid to hold my veil, since I was expecting to wear a cathedral veil with my hair completely down. I was told this was all do-able but that I needed to pay for "special event hair" and come in for a test run. Even though this was completely out of my budget, I decided to go for it. It's my wedding day and if there was anything I wanted to splurge on, it's my hair! Test Run: When I went in for the test run, she tried different techniques and products. She also tested the root-braid to make sure my veil would hold...and I was SHOCKED at how secure it felt. But my MOH was concerned because she didn't do the actual hairstyle I requested, she just played with my hair to find a technique that worked on a section of my hair. I chose to trust my stylist. She said she had it...I trusted that! So I left. I later found a video of another stylist layering products for my hair type to hold wedding day curls on the beach...I sent that to my stylist and hoped it would help. Wedding Day: The day of my wedding, I was scattered. I cant even remember what my hair looked like inside the salon before I left. She handed me a mirror and asked me to look over it. I remember saying "Yes, it looks pretty!". I was just anxious to see my wife. The second I walked out of the salon, a gust of wind took my hair UP. Unfortunately, our wedding day was a "once in a lifetime" winter storm that grid locked the north west. The cold wind pushed down to Austin, and gusts we're like 20mph+. I want to emphasize that our stylists CANNOT change the weather, or control how it will effect your hair. However, my curls fell before I even made it to my venue, an hour later. It was a knotted mess because we later found out that I was given teased curls instead of structured curls. The root braid did NOT hold, my veil barely even made it up the isle. It was looser on my wedding day than my test run. I had to resecure it various times before I made it to the isle. I didn't have a veil for my entire ceremony or in any of my professional photos. I paid over $500 for a root-braid & curls....and neither held. Final Note: I added multiple photos from my wedding night, where you can see the knotted mess my curls turned into. It looks like something I would've done in highschool. Part of this is because of the weather, part is because of my hair type. I understand this cannot be fully on the stylist. BUT....my veil not holding was my tipping point. You can see in some of these how I'm trying to hold onto it, and my aunt is holding it up for our ceremony group selfie. It was removed just after the selfie was taken, at the beginning of the ceremony. The braid was absolutely strong enough to withstand the weather during my test run. But it was incredibly relaxed the day I actually needed it. The money I spent to get that braid put in, was never worth it. I could've just had my MOH curl my hair.
