Auto Shop of the Carolinas is an auto repair shop at 234 E Cama St, Charlotte, NC 28217, serving drivers in Charlotte, North Carolina. The listing shows a 4.9-star rating from 526 reviews, and customer comments describe visits for diagnostics, unusual vehicle noises, road-trip checks, hybrid repairs, and air-conditioning work. Whether you have a warning light to investigate or want a second look at a sound that has you concerned, this shop is a local option for discussing what your vehicle needs and what can wait.

Customers mention a range of vehicles and repair concerns, including a Cadillac diagnosis, a road-trip inspection, a Toyota Camry Hybrid air-conditioning repair, and work at a hybrid-focused shop. One reviewer says the team identified a noise after assessing the car within a few hours of drop-off. Another describes receiving an explanation of what to worry about and what not to worry about while the team worked through the vehicle’s issues. These accounts point to diagnostic conversations and practical guidance as important parts of the customer experience, rather than just the repair itself.

The reviews also mention helpful employees, fair pricing, and, in some cases, same-day repairs. Experiences can differ: one reviewer reports a diagnostic charge and subsequent repair costs they were unhappy with. For that reason, it is sensible to ask what a diagnostic includes, request an explanation of findings, and confirm the proposed work and price before authorizing repairs. Clear communication helps you make an informed decision, especially when a check-engine light or unfamiliar noise could have more than one possible cause. The business is a useful consideration for drivers looking for hybrid-related service or help investigating a specific concern, while each vehicle’s needs and repair timeline will depend on the issue found.

Located on E Cama Street in Charlotte, Auto Shop of the Carolinas is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and closed Saturday and Sunday. The weekday schedule may suit people who can arrange a drop-off during business hours; contact the shop directly to confirm availability and discuss the concern before visiting. For a warning light, a noise before a trip, hybrid-system questions, or an air-conditioning problem, bring the vehicle details and any symptoms you have noticed. That context can help start a focused conversation about diagnosis, options, and next steps at this Charlotte auto repair shop.

Rozel and team did a great job on my Cadillac. They helped me diagnose the issues I was experiencing, educate me on what to worry about and what not to worry about, and didn’t stop working until I was satisfied. I will be bringing all of my cars here if I have any more issues. It’s nice having a car repair shop up you can trust.

I recently came here for a road trip check and to look at a noise my car was making. They assessed my car within a few hours of me dropping the car off and was able to correctly figure out the noise! I even came back a few days later because I thought I had heard a new concerning noise from my car, and they took a look at it for me to assure me that everything was okay. I greatly appreciated the service they provided me at a decent price that did not feel like I was being scammed. I would recommend this place to any of my friends and would come here again!

I am writing to file a complaint regarding my recent experience with Auto Shop of the Carolinas. I initially brought my vehicle in due to a check engine light. I was charged $139 for a diagnostic, and based on their findings, I was advised to proceed with repairs. I then approved and paid $857.67 for the recommended repair, with the understanding that this would resolve the issue. However, the check engine light returned within just two days of the repair, indicating that the problem had not been properly fixed. I returned to the shop and explained that the issue persisted. Instead of honoring the previous diagnostic and repair, I was charged again ($152.28) for a second diagnostic for the same unresolved issue. In total, I paid $291.71 just in diagnostic fees for the same problem, while the main repair itself cost $480.50. This means I paid more than half the repair cost just in diagnostics, and the issue still was not resolved. I find this unacceptable. The original problem — the check engine light — was never resolved, and I should not have been charged a second diagnostic fee for a continuation of the same issue. While I understand that new codes may appear, the root problem remained the same and should have been addressed under the original diagnostic and repair. I am requesting a refund for the second diagnostic charge, as it is not reasonable to charge a customer again when the initial repair did not resolve the issue. I hope this matter can be resolved fairly and professionally. UPDATE AFTER COMPANY RESPONSE: Thank you for your response. However, after reviewing all invoices and the sequence of events, there is a serious inconsistency in how my vehicle was handled. When I returned to your shop, the exhaust manifold and oxygen sensor had already been replaced at another repair facility, and the problem persisted. This was communicated. In fact, I had already paid $460 at another shop for the exhaust manifold replacement. Despite that, your shop proceeded to replace the exhaust manifold again. Regardless of whether the vehicle had been serviced elsewhere or not, it is your responsibility to perform an accurate and complete diagnostic before recommending any repairs — not to make assumptions or repeat a repair without confirming that it is the actual cause of the issue. If a proper diagnostic had been performed before the repair, it would have shown that the issue was not related to the manifold, especially considering it had already been replaced. Only after I paid $480.50 for this repair — and the check engine light returned within two days — was a new diagnostic performed, for which I was charged $152.28 to identify a problem that had not been resolved previously. At that point, completely different fault codes were identified, confirming that the original repair did not address the actual issue. This demonstrates that the manifold replacement was unnecessary and that the correct issue was not identified before the repair was performed. The issue is not that new codes appeared, but that a complete diagnostic was not performed before charging for a major repair. For these reasons, I am requesting a refund for both the second diagnostic fee and the exhaust manifold replacement.

Auto Shop of the Carolinas did an excellent job fixing our 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid Air Conditioning. It was a big job, very labor intensive to replace the Evaporator core and the Expansion valve along with all that goes into getting the AC …
