The bread was fresh and perfectly crispy, and the fillings were authentic, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. The drinks were outstanding and paired really well with the sandwiches. The staff was friendly, courteous, and efficient, and our order came out quickly despite how busy the shop was. There’s a wide variety of options, and it’s clearly a popular spot, so I recommend arriving early and ordering more than one sandwich—you won’t regret it. Overall, an excellent stop for high-quality bánh mì and great service. We drove from Westminster and the drive up the coast was simply amazing.
Dropped by Avian Fresh Drinking Water for Vietnamese banh mi sandwich before shopping at the Vietnamese supermarket located in the same mall. This place is hole in the wall, one stop shop for Vietnamese sandwiches, refill for your 5 gallon water bottles, bars, spring rolls iced coffee/smoothes sugar cane drink, various prepackaged candies/toys, lottery tickets, etc. Got the grilled chicken banh mi sandwiches on a mini French bread. Meat was seasoned and grilled well, the bread was toasted and has a nice crunch on top and had plenty of pickled veggies. It is what you would expect from the traditional banh mi sandwich. Pricing is on the high side for the size of the sandwich. Apparently, this shop is a hangout for locals especially elderly Vietnamese men who would stop by in and out of the shop to socialize and buy lottery/lotto tickets. We heard that this shop is known as a lucky lottery retailer so people would just come in to buy tickets. The shop posts winning tickets around the ticket machines. This is a mom and pop shop in Linda Vista area. When we are in the area again, we will stop by to get our banh mi fix.
I have heard so many good things about this water store selling banh mi for decades. We came at 8am when they opened. This place gets packed from people heading to work. The sandwiches are on a mini French bread about 7 inches. Average price of $7.95 each. We got the meatball, Vietnamese ham, grilled pork (looks like bbq pork from a skewer) and grilled pork loaf (looks like thin slices of spam). Also picked up an order of pork shrimp spring rolls. Although it’s smaller in size, the bread was soft and it had lots of filling. We got large coffee $8.95 which was a lot for the price especially when it was filled with ice. Lots of parking in this super market plaza. This store also sells snacks, CA lottery, and random items like shampoo.
They have vegetarian options for bánh mì, egg & veggie pork (soy based). They use the same fake meat for the tofu spring rolls. As a new vegetarian that used to love eating chả lụa (pork roll) I'm super stoked to find a place with high quality vegetarian bánh mì that is similar enough. They're also one of the few spots that does durian smoothies, and they are very good!
They have the best banh mi sandwiches I've had (better than K Sandwiches). They use fresh ingredients and fresh rolls and are $4-$5. They're boba drinks are really good. About $5 once you add boba or jelly. Although they are a tad bit more expensive than most places, you get a larger drink so it's worth it. It's a family owned business and the owner is super nice. Highly recommend.
