Located on McFadden Avenue in Tustin, this spot has built a strong local following, reflected in its 4.8 rating from 129 reviews. Customers often mention that the shop may draw a line, but the pace moves quickly and the service stays friendly. With hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM every day of the week, it’s an easy stop for a morning drink, an afternoon pick-me-up, or a casual coffee run when you’re in Orange County.

What makes Ayer Coffee especially notable is how often guests talk about the matcha. Reviewers describe it as strong, flavorful, and not overly sweet, which is exactly what many matcha lovers look for. Drinks like the banana matcha and Matcha 2 get repeated praise for their rich taste, balanced texture, and generous matcha presence, including the matcha foam on top. Oat milk options also stand out in customer feedback, with people calling the result creamy and dessert-like without feeling too heavy. If you are searching in Tustin, California for a place that takes matcha seriously, this shop clearly leaves an impression.

Coffee drinkers also have plenty to appreciate here. Guests describe the coffee as solid and well balanced, with foam that is especially satisfying and a flavor profile that lands in the right place between sweet and bitter. The menu seems to appeal to people who want something a little different while still expecting consistency and care in every cup. It’s the kind of coffee shop in Tustin that works well for regulars who know what they like and for first-time visitors hoping to try something distinctive.

Another detail that comes up often is the pastry pairing. While the pastry selection may be limited at times, certain items make a real impact, especially the salt bun, which one reviewer described with enthusiasm for its unique texture and flavor. That kind of specific praise helps paint a picture of a shop that keeps the focus on a smaller lineup done well rather than trying to offer everything. The space itself is described as compact, with much of the interior dedicated to drink preparation, so the experience feels more geared toward ordering and enjoying your beverage than lingering for hours.

For locals and visitors looking for a trusted coffee shop in Tustin, CA, Ayer Coffee is a strong choice for quality matcha, carefully made coffee, and efficient, welcoming service. It’s especially good for matcha fans, people who enjoy specialty drinks, and anyone who doesn’t mind a short wait for something made with attention. Best matcha around, I had the banana matcha and it was like a dessert. Very strong matcha and went nicely with the oat milk (very creamy they use califia). I gambled on the salt bun and it was one of the best croissants I’ve ever had, it’s like 1/3 croissant, 1/3 soft pretzel, and 1/3 Chinese style bun. Felt like a hipster lining up, but staff was so warm it helped me feel like a normal person.

Best matcha!! Was flavorful and strong!! I ordered the Matcha 2 and it was delicious. Love the amount of matcha that they add and you can really taste it in the drink. The matcha foam on top was also delicious. Highly recommend if you love matcha. Line moves and the staff is very friendly. They also sell matcha tins inside the shop and i believe you get a free Matcha 1 if you buy a tin

Coffee is solid. 9/10. Foam is great, flavor is just right, right amount of sweet and bitter. Down side is the long lines and lack of pastries. Less than 8 people waiting, worth the wait . Anything more than 15 .. don't think so. Service was great. Friendly and helpful. Have tried salted Saigon and banana coffee. Initial hit is strong but after it mixes, perfect

Fantastic place for an unique coffee. Went here for coffee to wake myself up before training in the area. Big & easy finding parking. The place is small since majority of space inside is for preparing coffee and others. There is a line outside that have to wait til the inside (order area) is or are (2 registers, order & pay) available. After ordering you have to wait outside for the orders once it completed, they will bring it out to you by calling your name. It’s easy and fast and the menu is simple. The place is clean and organized, the staff are friendly and helpful. The coffee is fantastic and well prepared. You can tasted with care and well make to your liking. Really enjoyed it a lot. There is not really seat for dine in, it’s for to go only.

Matcha lovers rejoice! This is an amazing matcha/coffee shop in Tustin and one of the best you'll ever have. As someone who love matcha im so glad to have finally tried this out. The lines are long but move really fast, well worth the wait. The matcha is delicious and not overly sweet, which I love. Very flavorful and creative. The coffee drinks are STRONG and just as good as the matcha. Staff is really friendly and customer service is great despite the large number of customers you don't feel rushed. Great place.
