Sign in to reviewMy first impression walking in this store was so much food coloring. Just from the look it was a big turn off for me. I wanted to buy more but decided to only try 1 chè đặc biệt and 3 jelly (pandan, coffee, longan). I usually like to eat jelly and have tried many places. The jelly here was not for me. The pandan was pretty much just green food coloring, no pandan flavor. The coffee was hard and not good either. The longan was chewy kind and not too sweet but meh flavor for me. I would not buy jello here. The special che was ok. I like the crunchy peanut. The bean was tender. The che has lots of topping, but in general is lack of flavor. Again the super green bánh lot taste no pandan flavor. Why even put green color, should keep it white then. The hạt lựu was scary red. Why not natural color? And why put so much? The staff was nice but the desserts didn't meet my expectations. I don't think I'll come back.
It is delicious & addictive (even when you desire less sugar). I don’t live in CA, but I come to visit my adult children often. This dessert was “introduced” to me by my daughter’s Vietnamese friend and I can eat 2 or 3 of these desserts in a day or two. I don’t eat bobba anymore. Now, the only reason I am giving it a four stars is because of the ridiculous long line no matter what time of the day you come or of you order in-store or online - it’s nothing against them (the staff are efficient), but it’s just SOOOOO popular and parking is an issue.
Got the 5 cakes sampler(Palm Sugar, Pandan Layers, Mung Bean, Cassava, Taro) and the Che Dac Biet House Special dessert. Everything was very good.
This is the second occasion on which I've visited this particular location. I believe this is the first location and that there are two more now which is really cool. We got three servings of the pandan flan cheesecake and the Pandan Coconut Jelly and one of the house special beverage (this drink includes durian but they can provide it on the side which they did for us as it's definitely an acquired taste if you're not familiar with it but are curious like me). This drink is just so much fun with all the different inclusions and colors. It's a feast for the eyes before you even taste it. I'm a big fan of the pandan jelly and I've had it before but I have been internet stalking the pandan flan cheesecake for a while now and was really excited to get to try it today and it did not disappoint.if you want to try it I recommend getting there earlier in the day or ordering in advance because it's made fresh daily and sales are limited to what they can produce in a day. I love small businesses like this and If it hadn't been for the visual appeal of the house special drink, I never would have popped over there the first time and tried pandan and discovered how much I love it. Also, the jellies are not made with gelatin but with agar agar which is critical for me because I've been a vegetarian since I was a teenager but do sometimes feel nostalgia for the texture jiggly texture that we all enjoy in childhood. Everything I've tried here has been fun and visually appealing and absolutely delicious. It's also a really affordable sweet treat when not that many sweet treats are still this reasonably priced.
Bake & Che is pretty good! The taste is authentic and light, making a nice dessert. However, I came and tried to order the Flan Cheesecake, but they were all sold out. I instead got the Pandan Flan Cheesecake, which is still pretty good. Highly recommend coming early when they have lots of the desserts that you want in stock.
