Do not underestimate the power of the local pie store in the Temescal neighborhood! If you're looking for a local business that makes the best pies, whether it be apple, blueberry, or more -- look no further than Bakesale Bettty! They are located right off of Telegraph and 51st Street, right across from the Children's Hospital of Oakland. Though they do most of their sales outside (rain or shine), they know just how to impress the right people -- and one of those people would have to include me because their pies really took me to a different level of pie appreciation. We went on a Friday morning (keep in mind they are closed Monday through Wednesday, so plan accordingly when you want to go buy these pies), and while the lines were a bit long, the line wasn't too bad, and they went rather quick. Me and my friend got the banana cream pie, and the key lime pie. I love how tart the pies were -- the banana cream was so layered, made with actual banana and it was topped with another layer of cream and chocolate covering. All in all, $7 a slice for a piece of pie is not bad at all, especially if they were made by food artisans who knew their craft. Ambiance is rather good, and not underwhelming at all. This place IS worth the hype forsure xD I'm definitely recommending Bakesale Betty to any and all friends who want to try this :)) till we meet again!!

Bake sale Betty…… Mmmm Mmmmm DELICIOUS! this place gets packed and busy and the operation time is limited, so if you go there, it may have a long line, but they will get the orders in and out real quick. The chicken is tender and crispy, the slaw has a little spice since it has jalapeño’s in it but it’s a nice blend. If they have the strawberry short cake… GET IT!! ITS HELLLLLLLLLAAAAAA GOOD HAHAHA.

Bakesale Betty is my personal favorite chicken sandwich in the East Bay, a place where there is some pretty decent competition. Their chicken is a little drier than other places, but this is more than made up for with the moisture of generous helping of slaw that accompanies the sandwich. The whole construction is perfectly paired with the franks red hot sauce packets that are provided upon request. Bakesale Betty, of course, has great baked goods. My personally recommendation is to get a slice of the apple pie, though you can't really go wrong with any choice. Service is very quick, you will usually receive your food within 5-10 minutes of ordering, and the ladies who work the register are friendly. I cannot give the atmosphere a rating as there is no seating, this is a limited time open, takeout only place, so the atmosphere is as nice as that place that you choose to eat. The location of the restaurant is quite nice, being right at the edge of Temescal, but again there is no seating. If you're looking for a great lunch, you can't go wrong with Bakesale Betty.

Betty's has been around for a long time and there are numerous great reasons for that. Her chicken sandwichrs are phenomenal, gtendre, crispy fried breast with a ton of mixed saled and just the right seasoning. Her pie crust is one of the best anywhere, her crumbles delightful and the whipped cream is delicious. I miss the ironing board tables and openness, it is only take out. But the quality of the food, including the cookies makes a trip there always worthwhile, even with the sometimes long lines.

Pretty much the best Fried Chicken sandwich you can get anywhere. Their desserts are seasonal so you aren’t guaranteed to get the one you want, but if at all possible try to go when the Bread Pudding is in season; that’s their best dessert. If you're ever in the east bay, i highly recommend you check it out.
