Bao Brewhouse is an Asian fusion restaurant at 1317 14th St in Denver, CO, bringing together dim sum, noodles, dumplings, and cocktails in a lively downtown setting. It’s a place to consider when you want a meal with variety: customer reviews describe ordering several dishes to share, making it easy for friends or couples to sample different flavors around the table. The restaurant has a 4.1 rating from 1,884 reviews, offering a helpful snapshot of many diners’ experiences while leaving room for individual preferences.
Dumplings are a recurring highlight. Guests mention the Pork Xiao Long Bao Soup Dumplings, with one reviewer praising their juicy filling, and the buffalo chicken dumplings, which stood out during a happy-hour visit. Those looking for a meal with more than one texture or style can pair dumplings with Spicy Yaki Soba Noodles, also praised by a reviewer. The menu’s dim sum selection gives groups an inviting reason to share, and a customer specifically called out the bluefin crispy rice dim sum as a favorite.
Reviews also point to cocktails and appealing value during happy hour. One couple said several appetizers were priced at $8.88 and found the drinks affordable for the area. That account makes happy hour worth asking about if you’re planning a casual stop, though current offerings and prices can change. A reviewer also appreciated a server’s knowledgeable guidance when choosing cocktails and dim sum, suggesting that asking the staff for help may be useful when you’re deciding what to try.
The atmosphere is part of the experience: customers describe it as enjoyable and well suited to a birthday dinner or a meal with friends. Sharing a range of dishes can make Bao Brewhouse a good fit for diners who like to explore a menu together rather than settle on just one entrée. There are also practical considerations in the feedback. Some guests found the upstairs busy, and one Saturday visitor described loud music and a wait to be greeted. If a quieter meal or a particular seating area matters to you, consider checking with the restaurant before you go.
For visitors exploring downtown Denver, Bao Brewhouse offers a mix of Asian-inspired comfort dishes and a social dining feel at its 14th Street address. It may suit a casual date, a group dinner, or a happy-hour meet-up, especially if dumplings, noodles, dim sum, and cocktails are what you’re after. My wife and I stopped in for happy hour and were honestly blown away by the value. A bunch of the apps were only $8.88 and the drinks were surprisingly affordable, especially for the area. We tried a little bit of everything, the buffalo chicken dumplings were the standout (seriously good), the soup dumplings weren’t as juicy as I’m used to but still tasty, and the DIY spring roll was fun and fresh. The Brussels and shishito peppers were great too, along with a few other small plates we grabbed. Overall, the food was flavorful, the portions were solid for the price, and the whole experience felt like a win. Great spot for a casual, high‑value happy hour.
The atmosphere of this place was really good and made the whole experience even better. I tried their Pork Xiao Long Bao Soup Dumplings and Spicy Yaki Soba Noodles, and both were amazing. The dumplings were super juicy and packed with …
MJ our server was fantastic! Knowledgeable and helpful with our selections of cocktails and dim sum. The bluefin crispy rice dim sum was fantastic! They source their fish from Japan in partnership with the omakase at the lower level so the quality of fish was superb. Only complaint was the top level was a little toasty in temperature, but we visited during the heat dome so that probably contributed.
2/15/26 - Had dinner at Bao for a friends birthday! We tried a lil bit of everything on the menu and shared. Everything was great! …
Just too loud. I wanted to really enjoy this place. We showed up at 6pm on Saturday and the downstairs area wasn't full but we stood at the host stand for over 5 minutes before being greeted. The upstairs was full, we hadn't made a reservation which was my bad, but the downstairs was playing deafening music. I was there with my two teens and my boyfriend and we got a table downstairs and couldn't even make conversation because the music was so loud. We ordered an appetizer that tasted amazing, but it took 25 minutes to get to the table. The decor was beautiful, the walls are painted amazingly downstairs. The food was really good Latin Japanese fusion. The music was too loud.
