Sign in to reviewA small Vietnamese sandwich place. I stopped by around 2pm and barely anyone there. There was one other person there before me. I ordered a small grilled chicken sandwich since the one I want to try (grill ed pork) is not available. The lady who prep the sandwich made it pretty quick. The price came out a little over $7. The sandwich was ok. Tasted a little plain and doesn’t have as much flavor as the sandwich from Duc Huong. The bread was a little harder as well.
Not sure if they changed ownership and quality recently (store front name is different as Bens sandwiches) im not a typical person to ever complain, BUT I only didnt this time because I didnt even open the sandwiches I until I was long gone from the location but the there was hardly any meat.. and the quality was something i havent experienced in any Vietnamese food here in San jose...not trying to bash them to hard, as I want any business owner(s) to thrive and be proud of what the serve but it was beyond poor...couldn't even stomach finishing the rest and im pretty open to most food cultures and taste overall... lees as is OK and I expected this place to be above but it was far from that.. hate to leave reviews like this, but maybe the owners will take notes. They were kind and I do appreciate that but I can't help and feel like it was to mask the quality of the food..
I had a fantastic experience at Ben's Sandwiches! I live just a hop, skip, away and walk past this place almost every day while taking my puppies out for a walk. Yesterday, I finally decided to give it a try and ordered the Grilled Pork Vermicelli Noodle Bowl to go. The price was very reasonable, so I figured, why not? The restaurant was very clean, and the gentleman who helped me was incredibly friendly and welcoming. When he handed me my order, I noticed the bag felt a little heavy, but I didn't think much of it. When I got home and opened it, I was completely surprised to find that he had included a fruit tea and a Vietnamese sandwich in addition to the meal I had ordered. Wow! I was genuinely touched by the kindness. I was also kicking myself for not realizing it sooner so I could properly thank him before I left. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The Vietnamese sandwich was delicious, with bread that had the perfect crunch on the outside while still being soft inside. The Grilled Pork Vermicelli Noodle Bowl was excellent and packed all the way to the top. At only $12.95, it's an incredible value. Most places around here charge $19 or more for similar bowls. The fruit tea was also amazing. I'll admit, I'm usually not much of a tea person, but I drank the entire thing. That's how good it was! A big thank you to the kind young man who helped me. Your generosity and excellent customer service made a lasting impression. I'll definitely be coming back more often and recommending Ben's Sandwiches to my friends and family.
I ordered delivery from this restaurant. Firstly, the sandwiches are much smaller than what’s depicted by the restaurant. Second, my sandwiches arrived in an unsealed H&M bag for some reason, which is highly suspect.
Worst in show. Terrible bread that was stale. The sandwich , which i paid extra for extra veggies, had less than half the veggies than the standard sandwich should have. The stale roll was mostly empty and the child (company better check labor laws) working alone in there didnt even remember the cilantro. I was the ONLY customer, so not sure how he got distracted. This is why I hate tipping before I get what im paying for. Youre welcome for my free money you didnt earn . Will never go back. There are better options in town for the same price.
