Bill's Trading Post is a Native American goods store at 2943 College Ave in Berkeley, CA, serving people looking for jewelry, art, and Native American goods in the East Bay. Its College Avenue location makes it a focused stop for residents and visitors who want to browse distinctive pieces in person. The business holds a 4.6 rating from 39 reviews, and customer comments repeatedly point to a welcoming experience and a specialty that is personal rather than generic. One longtime customer recalls first being warmly invited to browse there as a child and is glad the store remains part of Berkeley. It can also appeal to travelers exploring College Avenue and the surrounding Berkeley neighborhoods.

Jewelry is the clearest part of the store's character. Customers describe a selection of turquoise rings, silver jewelry, some gold pieces, and art, including items they identify as First Nations jewelry and art. A review specifically celebrates finding a vintage turquoise ring that paired well with an existing cuff, illustrating the appeal for shoppers drawn to individual pieces rather than a uniform, mass-market look. For anyone searching Berkeley, California for Native American jewelry, a meaningful gift, a ring, bracelet, cuff, or a carefully chosen addition to a collection, Bill's Trading Post is worth considering for the kinds of pieces customers have highlighted.

Repair work is another important reason customers seek out Bill's Trading Post. A visitor who had been holding onto a damaged Native American ring brought it in while visiting California and reported being delighted with both the repair results and turnaround time. That experience makes the shop especially relevant to people who value an established place for bringing in a cherished jewelry piece, not only for shopping. Reviews also describe the staff as knowledgeable and attentive when discussing jewelry. A customer who had travelled through the Southwest later returned with a friend and asked a salesperson to look at a bracelet, reflecting the trust some returning shoppers place in the store's perspective.

Customer accounts portray Bill's Trading Post as a multigenerational family-run business, with one reviewer describing four generations of family involvement. They also mention an investment in the local Indigenous community, a detail that may matter to shoppers who want to understand the character behind a store. The atmosphere comes across as warm, patient, and browse-friendly: a place for collectors, gift shoppers, jewelry enthusiasts, and visitors who prefer to take their time with a selection. Bill's Trading Post is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and closed Sunday through Tuesday. Before visiting the Berkeley, CA address, it is sensible to confirm current availability or repair needs directly, since individual pieces and services can vary.

I have frequented “Bill’s Trading Post” since I was welcomed warmly to browse as a child in the 70’s and I am thrilled it is still there. Twenty years later, I travelled with a friend through the southwest. Later, the salesperson at Bill’s asked to see my friend’s bracelet and not only correctly identified the craftsman but shared that the maker was a recluse, making our chance visit with his family when we bought the bracelet that much more special. Back in Berkeley this year, I had a watch battery replaced and later the band repaired. The work was unimaginably inexpensive and quick and the employees such a pleasure I felt compelled to share here.

This place is amazing! I bought the most beautiful vintage turquoise ring that matches a cuff I have perfectly! By far the best place to get quality and unique silver (some gold!) authentic First Nations jewelry and art! And they are invested in the local indigenous community!

I've been hanging onto a damaged Native American ring that I was nervous to have fixed by anyone here on the East Coast. Since I was going to be in CA for a few days and nearby to Bill's Trading Post, I decided to bring it in for repair. I am delighted with the results and the turnaround time! They were able to get it repaired within just a few days and although our schedules didn't align to allow for in-person pick up, they were able to get it shipped out and on my doorstep by the following week. I can not recommend them highly enough for your jewelry repair needs!

I have an amateur but extended interest in gems and jewelry. Having a comprehensive sense of the Bay Area jewelry industry (I have shopped everywhere, from SF to Palo Alto, Berkeley..) I go to the Gem Gallery to do basic custom work at a very reasonable price that is beautifully executed. They also have some gorgeous specimens - vintage and new that are not to be missed. Lovely, knowledgeable staff; highly recommended experience.
