Sweet Spot Find- Tucked away in a Bellaire strip mall with a temporary "Now Open" sign, Bistro Mistral completely deflated our skepticism about its high 4.8 Google rating. Stepping inside transforms the bustling World Cup city noise into a cozy, intimate 30-seat Parisian escape (every table was occupied). The staff is exceptionally thoughtful, even proactively offering seat pads to ensure my elderly parents were comfortable on the wooden chairs. Our party of eight put the menu to a serious test, and every course hit the mark beautifully: The Starters: Standouts included a rich duck confit pâté, perfectly seared foie gras on brioche, a luxurious lobster vermouth risotto, heirloom tomatoes + watermelon burrata, and a series of bright, refreshing arugula salads. The table next to us were enjoying their onion soups which look delicious. The Entrées: The Fricassée de Volaille aux Morilles (morel chicken) was delicious. A few of us just back from France agreed it outshone several of our recent meals in Paris. Unfortunately, the lobster pot pie was a bit too salty but had good flavor. The Finale: The Tarte Tatin Traditionnelle—shared with coffees—stole the show with its perfectly soft, caramelized apples. The table next to us ordered the profiteroles which looked amazing. The service was flawlessly choreographed. To close out a wonderful evening, the French chef came to the table to thank us and share the secret to his incredible apple tart. It’s a true sweet spot find, and we will absolutely be back...perhaps the Prix Fixe Lunch or the Memorial location next time!

My husband and daughter and I had dinner at Bistro Mistral for the first time a few nights ago. The staff were incredibly welcoming and provided excellent service. The food was delicious. We started with the foie gras appetizer, which was generously portioned and incredibly tasty. My daughter enjoyed the beet and arugula salad, while my husband savored the lamb lollipops. I highly recommend the lamb; it was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the cassoulet with duck confit, Toulouse sausage, and pork belly. However, I was a bit disappointed with my dish. The meats were cooked to perfection, but the white beans tomato ragout overpowered the flavors of the meat.

Awesome French food. Escargots were delicious and steak was well cooked. French fries were also awesome. For dessert I recommend the profiteroles.

Perfect spot for a date! It’s very intimate and small but has a lot of potential to grow. Service was absolutely amazing and the food was impeccable. We will be coming back.
