Bon Me Test Kitchen - East Cambridge is an Asian fusion restaurant at 60 Binney St in Cambridge, MA. Its name nods to bánh mì, while customer reviews describe a menu that also brings together flavors and dishes associated with other Asian cuisines. That range may appeal to diners who enjoy exploring different combinations rather than choosing from a narrowly focused menu. The restaurant has a 4.3-star rating from 246 reviews, offering a useful snapshot of a varied customer experience rather than a promise that every dish will suit every palate.
Reviews mention lemongrass chicken, Korean fries, and miso kimchi ramen among the dishes customers have tried. One diner praised the lemongrass chicken for arriving hot and tender after being packed in a box wrapped to help retain heat and moisture. Another described Korean fries topped with gochujang chicken, spicy sauce, jalapeños, kimchi, onions, and scallions, though that reviewer found the fries soft and the chicken disappointing. A separate review was less impressed with the balance of the miso kimchi ramen broth but enjoyed its pulled pork. These differing reactions make it sensible to consider individual tastes when choosing from the menu.
Bon Me Test Kitchen may suit people looking for a weekday lunch in East Cambridge, as well as groups who want several kinds of flavors to choose from. Its Binney Street address places it in Cambridge, and customer feedback includes both takeout orders and an account of hiring Bon Me's food truck for a wedding. That event customer appreciated being able to sample options at the Cambridge location, customize the wedding menu, and add appetizers for guests. The review offers an example of event use, but customers planning catering should confirm current availability and arrangements directly with the business.
The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is closed Saturday and Sunday, so it is best suited to a weekday visit rather than an evening or weekend meal. The reviews reflect both enthusiasm and reservations: customers have praised particular dishes, packaging, and event-menu flexibility, while others have raised concerns about preparation, flavor, portion value, or prices. For a first visit, check the current menu and hours, then choose based on the flavors that appeal to you. Bon Me Test Kitchen - East Cambridge offers a local option for Asian fusion in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a mix of Vietnamese-associated and broader Asian-inspired choices described by diners.

This place has plethora of delicious-looking menu, but since I wasn’t feeling too hungry, I decided to try their lemongrass chicken ($6). First of all, I loved how they wrapped the entire box to prevent any moisture from getting out. Even by the time I got home, chicken was still hot and tender. It would’ve been better if they didn’t season the chicken too much, but I still liked the overall taste of the chicken. If you’re going for the chicken, definitely recommend getting some rice to go along with it - it would make a perfect balance. Everything else on the menu also seemed very affordable and I would definitely return to try their bowls and ramen.
We’re thrilled we hired Bon Me food truck for our wedding. All the food they provided for was delicious. We loved being able to try options at the Cambridge location and customize the menu for our wedding. It was great to be able to add on appetizers - that was a hit with our guests. Working with Laura and the overall process felt too easy. Active communication, straight forward contract, and very customizable experience for exactly what we wanted. Really good value in our opinion too. Highly recommend!
I had the Korean fries, which are advertised as french fries with gochujang chicken, spicy sauce, jalapeños, kimchi, onions, and scallions. The fries were not crisp (not even the ones that didn't have sauce on them). The small chicken chunks tasted as though they'd been sitting in a refrigerator for many hours. Despite the jalapeños and kimchi, it wasn't spicy.
Not sure what to make of this place that names itself after a Vietnamese dish, yet has an identity crisis with what food and cuisine it actually wants to serve. My miso kimchi ramen broth was bland and lost in its flavors and composition. The surprise winner of the dish was the pulled pork which was shockingly delicious. This restaurant needs to look itself in the mirror and figure out a direction, not try to pretend to be all Asian and nothing at once.
The food quality and quantity have gone lower and lower in the past years while the price has gone higher and higher. It just has an unbeatable location, otherwise I have no idea why would anyone spend $18-$20 on lunch in a place like this. I only order take out 1-2 times a month, but in the past year, I have gotten one big bug in the K-town throwdown, and a flying bug in my Ali's pho. The online complaint is a waste of time because they won't do anything.
