Sign in to reviewSome days the city tells you exactly where you need to be. Today was one of those days. It was a beautiful Houston afternoon, and I found myself on the west side of the city craving nothing more than a good cup of coffee, a quiet place to read, write, and work through a few marketing emails. Somehow that journey led me to the coffee bar inside Central Market, and I’m so glad it did. There is something special about this place. The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by the rhythm of Houston. Families shopping together, neighbors catching up, people grabbing lunch, and everyone moving with purpose. Sitting at the coffee bar allowed me to experience all of it while still finding a peaceful corner to settle into my work. It was the perfect balance between community and solitude. I have to give a heartfelt shout out to the incredible baristas who made my visit unforgettable. Evelyn, Jess, Miguel, and Sherwin welcomed me with genuine smiles and the kind of hospitality that cannot be taught. They made me feel less like a customer and more like a familiar face. Their energy was warm, joyful, and authentic, and you could tell they genuinely enjoy serving people. I ordered a double shot espresso made with KATZ Coffee, one of Houston’s finest coffee roasters, and it was exactly what I needed. Rich, smooth, and full of flavor. While I enjoyed my coffee, I had the pleasure of watching the team prepare drinks for everyone who came through the line. From handcrafted coffees to fresh smoothies, every order was made with care, precision, and a smile. It was a beautiful reminder that excellence often lives in the smallest everyday moments. To Evelyn, Jess, Miguel, and Sherwin, thank you for filling my cup today, literally and figuratively. I hope this review pours a little encouragement back into yours. And to my fellow Houstonians and anyone visiting our beautiful city, do yourself a favor and stop by the Central Market coffee bar. Come for the coffee, stay for the people, and leave reminded that great hospitality is still alive and well in Houston. Five stars across the board.
Very interesting grocery store with a huge variety of products. The produce section is colorful, fresh, and beautifully displayed. I like how they carry unique and specialty items you don’t usually find in regular supermarkets. The store layout is spacious and easy to explore. Great place if you enjoy discovering new foods and high-quality ingredients.
Story Time: Visiting Central Market in Houston is like walking into a well-organized wonderland where everything smells delicious and looks like it was handpicked by someone with impeccable taste. The vibe? Pure energy. It’s bright, bustling, and clean enough to make you question your own housekeeping skills. From exotic cooking oils to artisanal chocolates, every aisle is a mini adventure. The natural oils section alone could double as a small museum of “things you didn’t know you needed until now.”Bonus points for the catering department—yes, they have one—and they seem ready to turn any event into a gourmet dream. Now for the tiny plot twist: the bakery. While many sing praises of the pastries and cakes, my taste buds weren’t entirely convinced. The textures leaned a bit dry, and the flavor sparkled less than I hoped—especially for a dessert table auditioning for an upcoming big event.A word to newcomers: bring breadcrumbs (figuratively). The layout is a delightful labyrinth—equal parts charm and confusion. You’ll either find inner peace or accidentally circle the olive bar twice. My only real villain in this story? The parking lot. Let’s just say it competes in chaos with Houston traffic itself. All in all, a market worth the (literal) twists and turns—just maybe grab your cakes elsewhere.
Been to central market many times. Its my second time ordering customized cakes from this place. I was disappointed this time though. I spoke to Joanna on the phone regarding a one year old birthday cake with Space Theme. I sent her the images of what I wanted but somehow the picture on the email showed in white she said. I went there in person and spoked to her so she can have a better view of the picture itself. I asked for pale color sky blue and when i picked up the cake it was a mint color. They used too much gold but overall the red velvet flavor was perfect. The first picture im attaching is how i wanted it and the second picture is the one i picked up. They told me $150 over the phone for chocolate moose cake but because I wanted red velvet the price went higher to $180. They aren’t precise over the phone.
This might be the top grocery store in Houston. While not perfect it's better than the whole food flagship stores. It has just about everything you can ask for from a grocery store. Some items are a bit marked up but you are paying for the quality of service and experience. The backery here is definitely better than any other general grocery store and will run it through the slicer for ya.
