Centro Legal De La Raza is a legal services organization in Oakland, CA, located at 3400 E 12th St, Oakland, CA 94601. For people searching for community-focused legal help in the East Bay, Centro Legal De La Raza is often recognized as a place where clients can ask questions, learn about their rights, and receive guidance from staff who understand how stressful legal issues can feel. With a 4.2-star rating from about 200 reviews, the organization has built visibility among Oakland residents looking for support that is practical, respectful, and rooted in community needs.

Based on recent customer feedback, Centro Legal De La Raza appears especially associated with immigration-related help, including resident and U.S. citizenship cases. One reviewer noted that the front desk explained they were currently taking only resident and citizenship matters because of staffing limits, while also collecting contact information and offering a list of other organizations. That detail is important for anyone planning to visit: availability may change, and it is wise to contact the office first to confirm whether your specific legal issue can be accepted. For local searchers, this makes Centro Legal De La Raza a relevant option for immigration legal services in Oakland, California, while also reminding clients to verify intake before relying on in-person assistance.

Many reviewers describe the atmosphere as professional, kind, and people-centered. Positive comments mention staff who respond in a timely manner, share information clearly, and help clients feel heard rather than dismissed. Several people express gratitude for being treated with dignity, including those who felt vulnerable because of housing, tenant, or financial hardship. One reviewer specifically described receiving helpful information and a confidence boost from a staff member, while another said the organization helped them feel like they mattered during a difficult tenant-rights situation. These reviews suggest that Centro Legal De La Raza may be a good fit for individuals who value patience, compassion, and rights-based guidance in a legal setting.

At the same time, the review record includes frustration from some clients, including concerns about returned calls, limited case acceptance, and rent relief communication. This balanced picture matters because legal services organizations often face high demand, limited staffing, and complex case priorities. People considering Centro Legal De La Raza should prepare by calling ahead, gathering documents, writing down key dates, and asking clearly about current services, eligibility, timelines, and follow-up expectations. The office hours listed are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday closed.

For residents of Oakland, CA and nearby Alameda County communities, Centro Legal De La Raza stands out as a community legal resource with strong praise for professionalism, kindness, and commitment to helping people understand their rights. It may be especially relevant for residents seeking immigration-related legal services, and possibly referrals when a case falls outside current capacity. The best approach is to treat the first contact as an intake step: confirm what the organization is handling now, ask what documents are needed, and keep notes on names, dates, and next steps. For people navigating serious legal concerns, that preparation can make the visit more focused, respectful, and productive.

Unfortunately they are currently only taking Resident and immigration US Citizenship cases. They are NOT taking any other cases, according to the lady in the front desk they are short on staff members. They will take down your name, phone number and email 📧 and give you a list of other organizations to call 📞 and is not a garantee that they will call you, up to 3 to 4 to months of waiting. Their website is NOT updated, and they don't accept any voice messages even tho they have workers at the front desk. In my opinion their website info is misleading possible people that might need help. Also their Thursday legal clinic 9am to 11am is NOT taking place according to the front desk lady. Would be nice if they were to help the community more, is not enough with the limited service they have. I'm very disappointed.

Best experience always here ☺️🩷the staff is very professional, friendly, respond in a timely manner, knowledgeable, and kind. They truly care about those in need they don't brush you off like some non profits they see you hear you and want you to know your rights. It's so freeing such a peace of mind knowing your rights especially when you have a landlord harassing you, making up stuff. Or an employer not following the law. I've been helped by them 4 times my whole life each time I'm just SO thankful. Every county deserves a Centro legal de la raza. They are a blessing to the community 🩷🩷🩷🩷

I owe to them my life. They stepped in and defended me when I was being a victim of an illegal and racist property management violating my rights not just as Tenant but as human. Therefore, they made me feel like I do matter and I’m not just a number. Thank you Alexis for your honesty, patience and mostly the tenacity that you had to defend my rights. THERE IS NO WORDS THAT CAN TRULY EXPRESS THE POSITIVE IMPACT YOUR HELP HAD OR TO FAIRLY SHOW MY APPRECIATION

Scammers. Won’t return my call. They said they paid my past due rent with the Emergency Covid Rent fund, but my landlord never got the check. I have emailed them and left numerous messages. No one has returned my calls. Someone cashed the 4,000$ check. Beware of the Alameda County Rent relief fund. Beware of this company who says they paid it but have not. You can’t even get hold of a real person. It’s so shady.
