Charlotte Beauty Braids

Ruffin did an amazing job on my hair. I’m tender headed and when I told her, she ensured not to hold the braids too tight. I got the boho braids and I love them.

My first experience with this shop was wonderful! I got braids done for my birthday/engagement photos and loved them. I decided to return after my usual braider moved. It’s unfortunate that my experience this time was not great. I wanted kinky twists. I called and confirmed that they could do it since I hadn’t seen it on their booking site. When I got to my appointment, I showed a picture of the length I wanted (the picture was of myself with the length so that it’d be an easier comparison). The final result was disappointing. I gave it a day to see if I would feel differently about it but became more frustrated. It did not look like a professional job. The ends were frayed or not completely twisted and untwisting overnight. The two sides were uneven (I asked for a middle part). After a lot of thought, I reached out to ask for a partial refund or to get it redone. I ended up being left on read while trying to clarify the process. I was frustrated but was not going to push communications when it didn’t seem like she cared to mitigate the situation. Pictures are examples of what I showed (hair done by my sister who is not a professional) and what I got.

Pics are 2wks after braiding. The white tips are my hair follicles that came out, even though I removed the 1st two rows of crochet braids soon as I got home. I asked for loose braids because I don’t want to lose edges permanently or receding hairline but too late :( . Baby hairs don’t grow long like the rest of your hair so if braided they will get pulled out slowly while you’re regular grows out. Everyday there are more follicles coming out when I look in the mirror in the mornings. Also if that area is braided this small at the sides , it will be too matted in 8weeks to take out without breaking. I Finally just cut the bottom neckline edges from the braid because it got red, itchy, and bumpy from pulling. I tried a couple times to support African braiders but I think mostly only the Americans know how to do “tension free” braids. Praying I don’t have traction alopecia and it grows back

If your a man looking for cornrows avoid this place. She seems to do great on the ladies but she made my rows so tight i can barely blink without feeling it. Theres also a hump in the back of my braids since she did them so tight. I was willing to look past the hump and just tie the braids together but this pain all day is making me write the review taking them out now.

This is the only salon I can trust with my braids hairstyles. They listen, very tender with your hair, and won’t disappoint. They exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be back!
