About

Che-lo Sandwiches is listed on FindALoco in Union City, CA with address, phone, website, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Takeout Restaurant.

Che-lo Sandwiches is a casual Takeout Restaurant in Union City, CA, serving Vietnamese-style sandwiches and quick drinks from its spot at 1767 Decoto Rd, Union City, CA 94587. For people searching for banh mi in Union City or a convenient meal near Decoto Road, it is the kind of place built around fast ordering, portable food, and familiar flavors. The restaurant is listed with a 3.7 rating from 45 reviews, which gives a realistic picture: many guests come for the sandwiches and drinks, while some note that service and pricing communication can vary from visit to visit.

The items customers mention most often are the banh mi, the bread, and the pate - details that matter when a sandwich is the main reason for the stop. One lunch visit highlighted a Korean steak sandwich special paired with coconut milk tea and taro milk tea with boba, with staff offering suggestions and the menu described as easy to read. Another traveler called the banh mi amazing and enjoyed the avocado smash. These comments point to a menu that works well for a quick lunch, a simple dinner, or a snack-and-drink run when you want something satisfying without a long sit-down meal.

Inside, Che-lo Sandwiches has been described as clean, organized, and easy to navigate, with jazz music adding a relaxed note to the takeout experience. The atmosphere is not positioned as formal dining; it is better understood as a straightforward neighborhood stop where the value is in choosing a sandwich, adding a milk tea or boba drink, and getting back to the day. Its daily hours, 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM Monday through Sunday, make it accessible for lunch breaks, after-school cravings, evening errands, and weekend takeout in the Union City area.

Because reviews include both praise and criticism, new customers may want to check current menu prices at the counter before ordering and ask any questions up front. That balanced expectation is useful: Che-lo Sandwiches appears to be strongest for people who care about Vietnamese sandwich basics - crisp bread, rich pate, pickled daikon and carrots, and quick service - more than a polished restaurant experience. It can be a practical choice for banh mi fans, commuters, local workers, students, and travelers looking for Vietnamese-inspired takeout on Decoto Road.

For FindALoco users exploring Vietnamese food in Alameda County, this listing is best read as a convenient local option rather than a destination built on ceremony. If your priority is a portable sandwich, a flavored milk tea, or a familiar banh mi stop in Union City, Che-lo Sandwiches offers a focused way to satisfy that craving while staying close to neighborhood shops and daily routes.

The price they charge you is not what’s listed on their big wall. What scammers. When I asked about the listed price I kept being told “it’s the new price” and when I asked them to update the wall they just said “no sorry”. How horrible. Won’t be back. Across the street 2 mins away is jenjon’s cafe— way better taste and service

Lunch time. Lunch special sandwich with Korean steak with a coconut milk tea and a taro milk tea with boba. The staff was very kind and even made a few suggestions. It was very clean and organized inside. The menu was very easy to read. I had no problem ordering a sandwich. They also had jazz music on that a plus tbh.

this was my go to place for banh mi every week, but the owners are not friendly anymore like before. i like their bread and pate, and came for that today- willing to pay. i asked if i could buy extra daikon and carrots, they refused to sell me their daikon on the side. said yes and then made me stand there for 5 minutes and then said “no my boss said no” you lost my business of 3 years today! won't be back again.

I really wanted to like this place but service was bad :( I’ll try to give it another chance so I’ll update if that changes. I came here a few years back and I loved it, however I recently came back and it was totally different. I asked to make my own Che and the lady in the store told me they didn’t have young coconut. I said ok, and asked for something else. A few minutes later someone else (that is also Vietnamese) asked for a young coconut drink and she gave it to her. I didn’t say anything and proceed to pay. She said that because I’m paying with card it was a $1 fee, which usually most places is .10 or max .50 cents. The drink was okay but the whole time I kept thinking how I wasn’t treated fairly.
