Great place, they’ve been our go-to shop for a few years now since moving to the neighborhood. Reliable, reasonable prices, and they have done a great job maintaining our vehicle. Thanks, Kham and crew! Edit: typo

What a pleasure to work with Kham, and to have found my trusted mechanic for my 2006 Honda Civic! I had over $8k worth of work quoted by the dealership, and fortunately I shopped around and Community Auto Center was able to deliver it all at a fraction of the price. As you see below, I got the works. Also they threw in a cool keychain and a free battery for my remote. I received photos all along the way. Superb communication!

This review is long overdue, but it’s important to share my experience with Community Auto Center in Oakland. My daughter’s car had an issue, and I took it there for a diagnostic. After looking at it, they quoted me close to $3,000 for the repair. I’ve brought several cars from my family here before and had trusted them, but this visit made me seriously question whether this shop is as honest as I thought. The mechanic told me that they had to call the Honda dealer’s parts department to get the specific part because it couldn’t be found elsewhere, and that he got the quote directly from the dealer. He also told me that labor would be more expensive if I went to the dealer instead of having him do the work. After paying for the diagnostic, I called the Honda dealership myself to confirm, and they told me the part was actually covered under a recall and warranty — meaning I should have paid nothing. I took the car to the dealer, and they fixed the issue for zero dollars out of pocket. To make things worse, Community Auto Center had also done brake work on another one of my cars previously, and when I later took that vehicle to the dealer, they said the brakes had been reassembled incorrectly, which damaged the rotors and forced me to replace everything. Make your own conclusions, but these are the facts from my experience. I trusted this shop for years, and after these incidents, I can’t in good conscience recommend them anymore.

These guys deserve every good review they have. Took my car in for a drive belt change and some new brakes, and they gave me a fair price. They also gave me a heads up on future repairs needed at no cost. Great communication with pictures of each thing as they fixed it, and great explanation of what was wrong and why. The most remarkable thing was what happened after, though. Two days later, my fiancé got into an accident with the vehicle, completely taking out the driver side light, fender, bumper, and hood. Not only did they make room for me in my time of need, but they also managed to do the job for way below the range of their initial estimate. It turned out to be 300 dollars cheaper than their lowest range estimate. They could have easily marked up those parts and made an extra 300, and I would not have complained, but they didn't. They were honest, helpful, and went above and beyond at every step. They even gave me a ride home after I dropped it off and worked with me on a payment plan. These are some good guys, and I'm recommending them to everyone I know.
