With a 4.2 rating from 26 reviews, Dave's Auto Repair is part of the local Garland auto-service conversation for people seeking an independent repair shop.

Reviews point to repair work that includes water pump and timing belt replacement, as well as work on trucks, Mercedes vehicles, and project cars. That range reflects the needs of everyday drivers as well as customers who are especially particular about who handles their vehicles. Several customers describe the work as solid and mention that the shop stands behind its repairs. One review specifically notes a quick turnaround on a truck water-pump and timing-belt job that continued to perform well afterward. If your vehicle needs diagnosis or repair, sharing the symptoms and repair priorities clearly can help establish a focused conversation from the start.

The atmosphere described by customers is clean and well organized, which can matter when choosing where to leave a vehicle for service. Reviews also repeatedly emphasize honest communication and service that goes above and beyond, with one Mercedes owner saying Dave identified an issue after feeling that other shops had been misleading. At the same time, one project-car customer reported that some requests were not completed, an estimate was not provided, and the repair timeline extended beyond a month. This mix of feedback makes it sensible for customers with multi-part or specialized work to confirm the scope, estimate, and expected timing before authorizing service.

Dave's shop is clean and well organized. He put a water pump and timing belt in my truck and the turn around was quick and has been serving me well. Can't recommend this place enough.

As someone who is a true car person.and I'm very particular about who I allow to work on any of my vehicles. Dave is one of a very select few who is able to work on my cars. Does very solid work and backs his work up. Hard to find mechanics that's are like him.

Above and beyond service, and more importantly; HONEST. The best referral I have ever gotten in my life! This is the place to take your vehicle if you need a repair, hands down. I have a Mercedes and every other mechanic wanted to rip me off and lie to me about what the problem was; Dave knew just by my uneducated description over the phone and he was right - and after over a month of lies from other “mechanics” he finally got my car fixed! And, he did a lot of things he didn’t charge for, like washer fluid, which I noticed because my notifications told me every time I got in the car - but THEN I noticed later on that they fixed my license plate holder - they attached it like it was supposed to be! 100+ stars, will never go anywhere else!

I took a project car in for various repairs... he did a good job on what was actually done but he ignored many requests and took over a month to do these minor repairs. The entire time the car was there I would go by and check on it weekly and ask for an estimate, no estimate was given EVER. He told me the total due once it was done, the amount was a little more than expected since he didn't do all that I asked of him. I did take a couple days to get him the money (3 working days), he was not too patient about that although I offered to pay any storage fees that may apply, he just kept saying he was about to leave for vacation and needed my truck gone. Once I paid him and picked up the vehicle there was body damage on the cab that wasn't there before, he denied that the damage was done in his shop. (the top of the truck has a straight line accross the top of the cab where they rose the truck too high and obviously hit a beam) they tried to cover up the damage but obviously did not. This is a project truck and not in the best condition (which he was very quick to point out) He denied the damage and I will pursue legal action. Luckily it IS a project truck and before pictures had been taken at all angles before it was taken to Dave. Good mechanic but be careful that he doesn't damage your vehicle. Oh and funny that my heater worked going into the shop and now it doesn't.
