Dharma Drum Mountain Fremont is a peaceful sanctuary tucked away in the city — a rare place where you can truly slow down. The atmosphere is quiet and calming, ideal for meditation and self-reflection. The monks and volunteers are incredibly kind and patient, always willing to share their time and wisdom. Their meditation sessions, Dharma talks, and beginner-friendly retreats are thoughtfully run, making it easy to connect even if you’re new to Chan Buddhism. It’s not just a temple, but a warm community centered around mindfulness and compassion. A deeply grounding experience every time I visit.

I came for a one day meditation retreat. This was my second time there. I have learned a lot about meditation and types of meditation. The practice was broken up with stretching and talks. The staff were so helpful and kind. Lunch was provided. I'll be coming back. I'm grateful for the opportunity to practice in a group with great leadership from the monks.

I attended the 3 day chan retreat held by Gilbert this May. The retreat was well designed and l learned so much from his dharma talks. The schedule is clear and well planned. The food is sooo delicious and every volunteer is nice and friendly. Definitely a great place for meditation and learn wisdom about chan. Thank you for organizing such a great event!
