As with many established neighborhood salons, experiences can vary depending on timing, communication, and the service requested. While many reviews are enthusiastic about the results and value, some customers mention concerns about wait times, service flow, or unmet expectations. For that reason, it may help to communicate clearly about your desired style, treatment history, and payment expectations before starting. Overall, Dong Kinh remains a recognizable beauty salon in Los Angeles for clients seeking affordable hair services, experienced stylists, and a local spot that many returning customers continue to trust for cuts, color, and straightening care.

Just did my Hair cut and rebond and I am pleased with the result. Heather the lady who took care of my hair. She is good and explained to me everything. Went to the place early after worked cause I know it gets busy as day goes on. My hair cut (layer's shoulder length) and Redondo cost $110 not bad compare to the salon that I went before it was 300 for rebond/ Japanese straight 😅.

Lily is THE BEST. Last Saturday I went to get my roots retouched with the straightening process, but I forgot to tell her I got another process done 3 months ago, so my hair got damaged and fried (completely my fault). Thankfully Lily knew the solution and saved my hair. I wanted to give her a big tip, but she humbly declined. 100% will go back in a couple of months for retouch. Everyone seems so caring and it’s cheaper than most salons.

Absolutely traumatic. She gave me really ugly uneven curtain bangs. The hush cut became choppy layers and she cut off way more than I asked. The hair-wash station was unhygienic, the wash was really aggressive and dirty. They got soap on my face and neck and everything. I asked for blue-black hair dye and after 2 washes, the roots were red-brown with gray streaks. The lady did not apologize or even acknowledge her incompetency. She kept blaming my hair for causing the streaking.

I came to the salon and waited for my turn. The barber called a customer who arrived after me without asking who was supposed to be next. Then, when it was finally my turn, he said they only accept cash, even though there were no signs or notices about it. While I was waiting, no one mentioned that payment was cash only either. I waited in line for about an hour and had to leave without getting a haircut, wasting money on parking. No one apologized or explained why it was cash only.
