About
EDD Employment Tax Office is listed on FindALoco in Oakland, CA with address, phone, website, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Tax Department.
EDD Employment Tax Office is listed as a tax department serving visitors in Oakland, California, at 7677 Oakport St #325, Oakland, CA 94621. The office provides an in-person option for people looking for EDD-related assistance when remote channels have not answered their questions. It is a government office setting rather than a private tax-preparation business, so visitors should arrive with a clear understanding of the issue they need addressed. Its Oakland location can be useful for local residents and workers who prefer face-to-face guidance.
Customer feedback indicates that this site is an EDD-referred office for assistance, including questions about claim processing and contact related to paid family leave. One visitor described receiving helpful support identifying why a claim was not being processed. At the same time, feedback suggests the Oakland location may be able to help people connect with paid family leave services without resolving every claim directly. That distinction matters for visitors with a highly specific benefit issue: the office may be a starting point for information, routing, or next steps rather than a guarantee of immediate claim resolution.
The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed Saturday and Sunday. Recent reviewers advise arriving as early as possible, noting that the office opens at 8:00 AM and that capacity may be reached later in the day; one account says arriving after 2:00 PM was not productive. Because reported demand is substantial, a weekday morning visit may be the most practical choice for people who can plan ahead. Bringing relevant claim details and questions in an organized form may also help make an in-person conversation more focused.
Waiting is an important part of the experience to consider. Reviews report waits of roughly two to three hours at times and describe the department as severely understaffed. One review also reports that translation services were not available, so visitors who need language support should take that feedback into account when preparing for a visit. These comments reflect individual experiences, not a promise of the same conditions every day, but they provide useful context for setting aside enough time and managing expectations.
The atmosphere described in several reviews is more encouraging than the wait-time concerns alone might suggest. Visitors specifically mentioned friendly agents, a helpful staff member who investigated a processing problem, and polite, respectful security. With a 3.1 rating from 31 reviews, EDD Employment Tax Office has mixed public feedback, making preparation and patience especially valuable. It can be a sensible Oakland option for people who need in-person EDD assistance, want to clarify a processing issue, or need help understanding where to direct a paid family leave question. Visitors seeking direct resolution of a specialized claim should confirm the appropriate office or service before making the trip.

Sign in to reviewThis office opens at 8AM not 9AM!! get here early to get seen quick. Coming after 2:00PM is pointless as they have reached capacity by that time (learned this the hard way twice). Since trying to call EDD is absolutely pointless, going to this office if your only option. The agents here are friendly and try to help. You can tell they are obviously understaffed and will move at a pace that they see fit-I feel you…you’re doing the best you can with what you got. If you come here, be prepared to wait up to two and a half hours if you don’t get here early. If you’re going to do that, get here by 7AM and stand in line - I’m not joking. Sidebar: and this is a courtesy for others that are waiting, DON’T BE LAZY OR USE UOUR LANGUAGE BARRIER AS A CRUTCH, QUIT COMING IN HERE EXPECTING THEM TO DO THINGS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVEN’T ATTEMPTED TO DO IT YOURSELF AND, if you truly haven’t read your paperwork you’ve received, please do. Half the questions that are brought up are easily answered online and in the documents you receive. I know it’s still confusing, though :)
Go to 745 Franklin St in San Francisco more helpful for paid family leave. Oakland only helps with contacting paid family leave but won't help your claim San Francisco way better and faster.
Cant get through EDD over the phone so you want to come in person for assistance? Informational Review: This is not a tax office this is the actual offices edd website refers you to for assistance. Wait times are long like 2-3 hours long, this department is severely understaffed. No translators available, No hay traductores. Waiting room is small so only the applicant is allowed in No visual numbers on the board so you never know what number is being called you gotta ask You’re advised to take a number leave the small waiting room and check in every 45 min. People just leave so occasionally 10 numbers will be called out at once iv been here almost 3 hours enough time to observe and review I encourage you to post your experience to help the next person who is in need of assistance plan accordingly as many people come from different parts of the bay area Its 12 and there are no more numbers for the day everyone is being told to come another day mind you this office closes at 5 pm Hope this review helps someone and avoids you a potential headache i only gave 5 stars to not lose this communication in a sea of negative reviews Personally the staff is working to the best of their ability there is a high demand and not enough workers
I have to say much to my surprise I dealt with the people on the 4th floor. they were incredibly friendly. Also the security throughout the building was very respectful with my service animal and I have to say I was very nervous coming to deal with this government office because they’re normally a pain in the butt to deal with but this one was incredible people were super helpful and I just wanna say thank you very much.
The guy at the office who helped me find out why my claim wasn't being processed was very helpful. Security at the office was very polite and helpful. I'm just disappointed with the lady I spoke with on the phone prior to going to the office, if she was able to tell me what I needed prior to going to the office, my claim would've been processed sooner.
