Home health care can be an important part of the transition from hospital to home, especially when patients and families need help coordinating next steps. Customer feedback mentions therapy services, including physical therapy, as well as interactions with nurses and care teams. One review describes therapy being arranged after a family member's stroke and notes a positive experience with an assigned physical therapist. These details suggest that prospective clients who need therapy-focused support may want to ask directly about available services, the referral process, and how care plans are matched to an individual's needs.
The experience of receiving care at home often depends on communication, scheduling, and the specific professionals assigned to a case. Reviews for Enhabit Home Health are mixed, with a public rating of 2.2 from 12 reviews at the time of listing. Some reviewers raise concerns about callbacks, service coordination, equipment-related issues, and consistency among assigned staff, while another specifically praises a therapist. For families comparing home health care services in San Antonio, these comments make it especially worthwhile to have a detailed conversation before services begin.
When contacting Enhabit Home Health in San Antonio, Texas, consider asking which therapy, nursing, or support services are appropriate for the patient's condition; how quickly an initial visit can be scheduled; and whom to contact with urgent questions about care coordination. It can also help to confirm insurance and referral requirements, the expected visit schedule, and whether a particular type of therapy is offered. For adult children, caregivers, patients returning home after discharge, and people seeking local therapy-related home health support, clear expectations can make the care process feel more manageable and informed.

Sign in to reviewEnhabit Hospice, formerly Encompass Hospice, was a massive fail for my father. Their DME contracter, National DME, brought a hospital bed into my father's home on Thursday, the nurse went over paperwork on Friday with me. On Saturday morning, 4/16/22, I woke up at 5 am to give my father medicine, only to discover a fully mature bed bug crawling across his pillow. I immediately made a call to their 24/7 number, was answered by a call service, who said a nurse would call back. The nurse did call back but denied that it could be their bed because "Our beds are vinyl and bed bugs can't live on vinyl." She did offer to replace the mattress. I soon after contacted an exterminator, Zoyd Bed Bug Treatment. They looked at the pictures of the now two bed bugs I had captured snd sealed in condiment containers and confirmed that they were fully mature bed bugs and she began contacting Encompass/Enhabit hospice as well. I made a further attempt to contact Encompass/Enhabit and my concern was forwarded to an administrator, Reed, who proceeded to call me around 2 pm and tell me, "No respite will take him." He insisted they were trying to figure something out, but I never heard anything from them again until Monday at 11 am, when a different administrator called me, Jennifer, and told me, they were still trying to figure something out. By this time, concerned for my father's safety, with a planned Heat Treatment being done to his bedroom at 3:30 pm on Monday, which required the AC to be turned off for at least 4 hours, and no help from Hospice, I readmitted my father to the hospital. Also, once the assigned nurse for my father was warned about the bed bugs that her company had introduced to our hone, she failed to show up as scheduled on Saturday and only made a token phone call on Sunday. It was only after my father was re-hospitalized, and the heat treatment done, that Encompass/Enhabit called me on Tuesday, offering to put my father up in a hotel, something I had asked earlier they if indeed no respite would take him. They also finally agreed to reimburse me for the treatment, due to the fact that National DME confirmed that there were bed bugs in the headboard of the bed they had delivered to us. Due to their mismanagement and bad policies, Encompass/Enhabit Hospice is not a company I would recommend, and I would even warn you away from them. They did not respond in a timely manner to ensure my father's safety and comfort snd indeed denied him care. They failed to take responsibility for their actions and protect my father. They abandoned him. Stay away from Encompass/Enhabit Hospice snd I can promise, you will be the happier for it.
I tried calling this company for therapy. The lady that answered the phone today. This afternoon was horrendous I asked her if company gave Pt Services for Amputee. She said no after I looked into it further have a contact that use them and he is an Amputee.? . She didn’t want to give me a contact number for Mgr. Never got a call back after reading reviews. I will not use this company at all.
My mother recently had a stroke and we were referred to Enhabit Home Health for therapy after her hospital discharge. In my opinion, your experience with Enhabit will depend entirely on which therapists and nurses are assigned to you. The physical therapist, Jim Aycock, came once and was excellent—on time, polite, and knowledgeable. The speech therapist, Colleen Hickl, has also been wonderful—always punctual, professional, and skilled. If my review were based only on these two caregivers, I would gladly give Enhabit 5 stars. Unfortunately, our experience with the nurse, Rosa, has been very disappointing and is the reason for my 2-star rating. Rosa first scheduled a 4pm appointment with us on a Monday. We rearranged our schedule to accommodate, but by 4:30 she had not arrived and hadn’t reached out. When I texted her, she claimed our meeting was actually supposed to be a phone call (though she hadn’t called us either) and blamed the schedulers instead of taking accountability. We gave her another chance and scheduled for Friday at 4pm. At 4:17pm she texted saying she was “stuck in traffic” in a nearby city and wouldn’t arrive until 4:55. Given the fact that even with bad traffic, our home is only 30 minutes away from the city she claimed she was at, this excuse didn’t add up, and it was clear she had not left on time. To me, this showed a lack of honesty and responsibility. She then asked to reschedule again for Monday. I can forgive a mistake once, but this became a pattern of unreliability, excuses, and lack of accountability. It is extremely frustrating to rearrange your schedule for healthcare providers only to have them cancel or delay at the last minute. Enhabit needs to recognize that caregivers like Rosa tarnish their reputation and diminish the excellent work being done by therapists like Mr. Aycock and Ms. Hickl. Until they address issues like this, I cannot recommend them wholeheartedly.
I haven’t even made it to actually meeting my actual physical therapist and I’m already fed up…. I called to see why they hadn’t called me back and what was going on I was told they were going into a meeting at 1400 and would call me back after no response at 1630, I call to see what is going on and if I’m able to be scheduled and fella gives me my PT name and states my appt needs to need to be for tomorrow…. It is now 1700 and I yet to receive any communication and thank goodness I CALLED them because I wouldn’t had known I need to be seen within 48 hours after surgery…. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. This is so frustrating
This place employs dishonest and unreliable people. One of their employees wrecked in to my daughter. She admitted to me and the police officer that she turned without yielding to oncoming traffic and crashed into my daughter. The police officer even recorded her statement in the police report. However, she turned around and gave the insurance adjuster a lie, stating it was not her fault and that she had a green light. Why would a grown woman lie about something like this. She has no heart, no morals, scruples about being deceitful to people. And this is the type of person that Encompass Health has working for them, allowing her to travel around and crash in their company vehicle? For shame on The Irresponsible Employee that has caused this damage.
