Erik's DeliCafe of Fremont is a long-standing sandwich shop in Fremont, CA, located at 4138 Walnut Ave, Fremont, CA 94538, United States. With a 4.4 rating from 230 reviews, it has the kind of local presence people remember across generations; one customer noted that their mother knew the cafe back in the 1990s. That history gives this spot a familiar, old-school identity for anyone searching for sandwiches near Walnut Avenue, central Fremont, or the surrounding East Bay neighborhoods.

The food is centered on casual deli comfort: sandwiches, wraps, soup, and dessert that work well for lunch, takeout, or delivery. Reviewers repeatedly call out the sandwiches as satisfying, especially the balance between bread and fillings. Customer favorites mentioned in reviews include the veggie sandwich, described as especially good, and the Cleopatra wrap, which one delivery customer enjoyed with green lettuce and bacon added. Pairing a sandwich with fresh vegetable soup is also a noted choice, and carrot cake gives diners a simple dessert option after a quick meal.

The atmosphere at Erik's DeliCafe of Fremont is more classic neighborhood deli than trendy cafe. Guests describe an older decor style, a quieter dining room, and details that nod to Fremont's local history. Some customers note that the space can feel dark or not very busy, which makes it a better fit for people who care most about dependable sandwiches, easy ordering, and a low-key meal. For many visitors, that understated setting is part of the appeal: it feels practical, familiar, and rooted in the area.

This Fremont sandwich shop is a useful option for office lunches, casual weekday meals, families picking up food nearby, and anyone who wants a sandwich or wrap without a long sit-down experience. The reviews suggest that to-go and delivery orders are common, so it can make sense for people shopping, working, or running errands around Walnut Avenue. If you are comparing sandwich places in Fremont, California, this location stands out for its local longevity, simple deli menu, and the comfort of items like veggie sandwiches, fresh vegetable soup, wraps, and cake.

As with any local restaurant, experiences can vary, and not every review is glowing. Still, the overall rating and repeated praise for the sandwiches point to a place with steady neighborhood demand. For diners who value straightforward portions, familiar flavors, and a cafe that has been part of Fremont's food landscape for years, Erik's DeliCafe of Fremont offers a grounded, casual stop at 4138 Walnut Ave. It is a sensible pick when the craving is simple: a well-filled sandwich, a warm soup pairing, or an easy lunch to take back home or to work.

Erik’s DeliCafé has longed been here. My mom went here during the 90s and expressed her thoughts about this place. So I thought of wanting to try here to see how good it is. The place is quite dark here and empty. It seems to be one of those places where people would rather order togo. My mom and I are the only ones to dine here. The food is actually good here. Normally sandwiches would use lettuce but they use sprouts instead which is very unusual. I also like the choice of bread for both of our sandwiches but I think it depends on what type of sandwich it is. They also serve soups and desserts too. The carrot cake is good and not too sweet.

Been here a couple times and every time I go, their sandwiches always hit the spot. The bread to filling ratio is perfect in my opinion, and pairing it with their fresh vegetable soup elevates it. Their decor has an old school sort of feel to it and getting to see the bits of Fremonts old history is always a treat. If you like sandwiches then this place will hit the spot for you.

Ordered delivery from here for lunch and thought that it was a great and casual spot to get sandwiches! I got their Cleopatra wrap and added green lettuce and bacon, and it was delicious. I also enjoyed their carrot cake for dessert and it was also pretty solid.

Never again!!! what a horrible experience for a Eriks… we go to the one in Redwood City quite often and it’s always super busy so we were out shopping and saw this one and Fremont so we decided to go in soon as we walked in the door I told my wife there’s nobody here that’s not good… did not take as long to figure out why the bread was stale. The pastrami was very old and dried out, and you could hardly sit at the tables because they were so wobbly… i’m not sure who runs this place but I should take the name down. It is a disgrace. They say they’re busy between noon and two for lunch. Go over to Redwood City you could hardly ever get a seat because it’s so good still hungry. Going to go try to find something else to eat as the food was almost un edible. Only thing that was halfway decent was the clam chowder and the cold drink.
