First Oriental Market Inc is an Asian grocery store at 1111 S 6th St #19 in Philadelphia, PA, serving shoppers looking for a broad selection of ingredients and groceries in South Philadelphia. Customer reviews describe a varied mix of products, including fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood, as well as specialty items that can be difficult to find elsewhere. One visiting shopper specifically praised the range of Thai products, while others mentioned the market’s selection of fresh food. If you are exploring Asian groceries or shopping for ingredients for a home-cooked meal, this neighborhood market may be worth adding to your Philadelphia list.

The variety is a recurring point in customer feedback. Shoppers mention produce, chicken and other meats, and a seafood selection, making the store a potential stop when you want to browse several grocery categories in one place. Reviews also call out Thai products, including items one visitor had not seen outside Thailand. Product availability can change, so it is sensible to visit with flexibility if you are searching for a particular brand or ingredient. Rather than assuming every item is always in stock, think of First Oriental Market as a place to explore and compare what is available during your visit.

The experience may feel different from a conventional, neatly arranged supermarket. Some reviewers describe a busy, informal market atmosphere and mention street-food vendors, seating, and play equipment for children; these comments suggest that parts of the visitor experience may involve more than grocery shopping. Other reviewers have raised concerns about organization, cleanliness, and strong odors, particularly in areas associated with seafood. Experiences vary, and those details are useful to keep in mind when deciding whether the market suits your preferences. If you are comfortable with a lively, less polished market setting, the selection may be a draw; if you prefer a quieter or more orderly shop, plan accordingly.

First Oriental Market Inc is open every day, making it an option for weekday or weekend grocery runs. Its listed hours are 8:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8:00 a.m.–7:15 p.m. Sunday. The address is 1111 S 6th St #19, Philadelphia, PA 19147. The business has a 4.2-star rating based on 1,082 reviews, reflecting a range of customer perspectives rather than a single uniform experience. For locals, visitors, and home cooks seeking Asian groceries, specialty Thai products, produce, meat, or seafood in South Philadelphia, First Oriental Market offers a broad selection to explore. Checking current hours and asking staff about a specific product can help make your visit more useful.

I was expecting a farmers’ market that included fresh food. It is a vendors market, with street food and toys and multiple vendors serving the same street food. But it’s nice and easy if you’re traveling with children. There are places to sit, others kids to play with, and play equipment for the kids to take turns on. It was a nice morning but I didn’t eat until later.

Once or twice every couple of months I'll visit these places. They are located in South Philadelphia and have been here for a long time. While not the cleanest food market, you're walking too. It's something you get used too. There's that old familiar smell of We sell a lot of fish. So it's hard to keep up with the cleaning, I love these markets because you can find great things At a fraction of the price that from the big markets and very hard to find items I go here for Dried mushrooms and tea and their selection is huge. The prices are fantastic. I usually go pretty big to hold me over for a couple of months. Language barrier is a little tough if you're trying to find something, but once you find What You Need. You'll know where it is all the time. very friendly people.

Listen, I LOVE a good Asian market, and I love to support small businesses. But this is not it. It smells SO bad in here, which is a shame because there is a lot of potential here, especially with how up and coming the area is. There are just some things I can't look past. The store is really disorganized. It's hard to find prices on things, and did I mention the smell? It's just really over stimulating, and the prices aren't good enough to make coming in here even remotely worth it.

I am visiting Philadelphia from Canada and I am pleasantly surprised by the variety of products that are available. I was especially pleased by the amount of Thai products... Some I haven't seen outside of Thailand yet.
