About
Great Wall Supermarket is listed on FindALoco in Denver, CO with address, phone, website, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Asian Grocery Store.
Great Wall Supermarket is an Asian grocery store at 2200 W Alameda Ave #2B in Denver, Colorado. It offers local shoppers a place to explore ingredients for Chinese and other Asian cooking, as well as pick up groceries for everyday meals. Customer feedback describes a broad selection, friendly staff, and prices that some shoppers find appealing. For people who are just beginning to cook Asian dishes, the store may feel approachable: reviewers compare its layout to a Western-style grocery store while noting that it remains a genuine Asian market. That combination can make browsing feel less intimidating while still giving home cooks a chance to discover unfamiliar ingredients.
Shoppers mention finding supplies for fresh, affordable meals and ingredients that support Chinese and wider Asian cuisine. One reviewer who usually cooks Mexican food said the store helped them branch into Asian cooking, suggesting it can serve both experienced cooks replenishing familiar staples and curious beginners building a pantry. The available customer comments do not identify a fixed menu or a definitive list of signature products, so it is best to think of Great Wall as a grocery destination rather than a prepared-food restaurant. If you are searching for a particular cut, package description, or price, check the label carefully and confirm details with staff before buying; some reviewers have raised concerns about product descriptions and displayed pricing.
The shopping experience draws mixed feedback. Many comments are positive about selection, helpful people, and value, while other customers report concerns about organization, freshness, or how long certain purchases kept after they got home. These individual reports are not a guarantee of what you will experience, but they are useful context when choosing groceries. As with any market, inspect produce and packaged goods, review dates and labels, and ask questions when something is unclear. The variety of opinions suggests that expectations and individual shopping experiences can differ, so a first visit may be a good opportunity to take your time, compare options, and decide whether the market suits your cooking and shopping habits.
Great Wall Supermarket is open daily, Monday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at 2200 W Alameda Ave #2B, Denver, CO 80223. Its listed rating is 4.1 from 875 reviews, reflecting a substantial mix of customer experiences rather than a promise that every visit will be the same. The location may be useful for Denver residents looking for Asian grocery options, people learning to cook Chinese or other Asian dishes, and shoppers seeking a neighborhood alternative for everyday ingredients. Whether you are planning a new recipe or simply browsing for pantry staples, allow time to check product details and choose what works for you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Wall Supermarket (GW Mart) I really love this place! I’ve been learning to cook fresh, affordable meals, and Great Wall Supermarket has everything I need. I usually cook Mexican food, but lately I’ve been learning more about Chinese and Asian cuisine — and this store is perfect for that. They always have a huge selection of ingredients, sauces, noodles, fresh produce, and so much more. Everything is well-stocked, the vegetables are always fresh, and the prices are great. It’s the perfect spot for anyone who enjoys cooking and wants authentic Asian ingredients without spending too much. Perfect for any size family on any size budget. Plus, you get the chance to explore foods from a part of the world most of us have never experienced before.
I'm not a fan of this store's organization, misleading description and pricing display. 1. Misleading description: (Based on attached photos) "Soft white bone pork". What I thought I'd be getting was just pork riblets and the cartilage without actual bone. The way they displayed it, the actual full rib bone was on the bottom hidden from view. I had to break out my cleaver to chop through the bones, whereas they had "short" pork spare ribs labeled differently. 2. While shopping the middle aisles-- soy sauces, vinegars, and wines were arranged neatly but not in correct area. The price tags were either non-existent or displayed a different product/UPC code. So buyer beware: price on shelf may not reflect actual product and you can be rung up something different (because chances are-- the price for the product is correct, however, the placement of the product on the shelf isn't correct). I had to walk up to cashier several times to 'check' price to verify if it matched the tag on the shelf, 9/10 it did not. Final thoughts-- I would rather: 1. Shop at Viet Hoa supermarket because they're closer to me, more organized and priced correctly (but can sometimes be more expensive) or 2. drive to the Aurora store from Golden to shop the GW market for the better selection, organization, and correct shelf pricing. note: this is based on my visit on 03/14/2026
Great selection, friendly people, good prices. I think Viet Hoa is still the go-to for deals, but GW is a very approachable alternative. This would be especially nice for someone who is newer to Asian cuisine, as it's a genuine Asian grocer, but feels more like a Western store in the layout.
Don't shop here. The food on the shelves are close to spoiling. Once you get it home and in the fridge the food only lasts only a few days. On more than one occasion, I've brought home food that was moldy. Another time I bought dehydrated shrimp and it tasted like ammonia. Other items that should be sold fresh are always frozen. Who knows for how long. Depending on when you go in, certain things you expect to be there are out of stock, they don't seem to understand how to order items before they run out. None of the staff are helpful, they don't seem to want to be there. They all avoid helping and if they do talk to you, they act annoyed. The manager there seems to micromanage them a lot and doesn't seem to do much else. The credit card terminal at the first checkout lane hasn't worked properly in years. Seriously, fix it! The cashier that always works this checkout knows this but won't communicate to you that the machine is quirky when accepting EMV chips. Instead, she turns away from you, turns her attention to her cellphone, and acts annoyed you are taking long trying to figure out why the card isn't being accepted. EVERY. DAMN. TIME she does this. Use your words. Contactless credit cards doesn't work here either. The food is bad. The selection is bad. The staff is bad. This will be the last time I shop here.
It’s been along time since I have been on this side of town and after a horrible trip to Tri Ocean Market (see review!) I remembered this market isn’t much further. I was surprised to see it changed from the large company POM but GW seems to really be focused on improving the issues I recall POM had. The new layout and operation is wonderful! No stinky smell from the fish tanks is the first thing you notice. It is very well stocked and not crowded with clutter and overstock in the isles like many Asian markets. Produce was very fresh and well stocked and taken care of. Staff was much nicer than the GW in aurora for sure! I was very sad I still spend money (and over charged) at Tri Ocean Market when this market is cleaner and better organized than most King Soopers!!!! I will be back anytime I am near! Thank you for being better than the standard!
