H Mart San Jose is a popular Korean grocery store located at 1710 Oakland Rd in San Jose, California. With an impressive rating of 4.4 stars from over 3,177 customer reviews, this location has become a go-to destination for anyone seeking a wide selection of Asian ingredients, fresh produce, and prepared foods in the Bay Area. Open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the store offers a convenient schedule for both quick weeknight stops and leisurely weekend shopping trips.

Shoppers frequently praise the store for its clean and bright atmosphere, with a well-organized layout that makes browsing enjoyable. The product variety is a major draw — customers can find items from across Asia, not just Korea. One of the standout features is the Korean bakery section, which offers fresh baked goods alongside an impressive selection of Korean side dishes and appetizers. The kimchi selection is particularly noteworthy, with many different types available for those who love this staple of Korean cuisine.

For those looking for fresh proteins, H Mart San Jose delivers. The meat department features a range from affordable everyday cuts to premium options, including convenient marinated BBQ selections ready for the grill. The fresh seafood section is another highlight, and customers have noted that the fresh fish and poke are actually quite good — available early in the day and priced competitively. While the sushi and sashimi section receives mixed feedback, with some wishing for more affordable combo options under twenty-five dollars, the overall quality of the seafood counter is appreciated.

The store also includes a small dining area where customers can enjoy prepared warm Korean foods on-site. While some reviewers note that the prepared food items can be a bit pricey, the convenience and variety make it a worthwhile option for a quick lunch or dinner. This location is notably larger than the H Mart in San Francisco, which translates to even more product choices and a more spacious shopping experience overall.

It is worth noting that some customers have mentioned the aisles can feel narrow during peak hours, so visiting during off-peak times may offer a more relaxed experience. A few reviewers have also raised concerns about occasional produce freshness issues, so it is always wise to check items carefully before purchasing. Despite these minor considerations, H Mart San Jose remains a beloved Korean grocery store in San Jose, serving as a one-stop shop for home cooks, food enthusiasts, and families seeking authentic Asian ingredients and flavors.

Store is clean and bright. A good variety of product from all over Asia. Love their bakery and Korean side dishes/appetizers. Lots of different types of kimchi. Aisles are a bit narrow and they get crowded during peak time

This location is larger than the one in San Francisco, offering a wide variety of product and fresh ingredients. There's a small dining area with cooked food and it's a little pricey. The meats are fresh with a range from affordable to premium cuts, plus marinated BBQ option and fresh seafoods. The grilled sweet potatoes are tasty, and the fruits and veggies are fresh. Overall, it's a great one stop shop for quality Asian groceries.

Most things you can dream of from Asia. Lots of prepared warm Korean foods, many seemed overpriced, and a so-so sushi/sashimi section. I would have liked more sashimi combos under $25. All they had during lunch were separate sashimi trays or combos >$35, unless you wanted just a tuna and salmon combo. But the uni tray for $13 was a steal! The produce was expensive -- as much as or more than Whole Foods. Many well-priced fishmonger options and lots of frozen seafood.

Been going here ages and I didn't try it before but their fresh fish and poke are actually pretty dang good. Pricing wise it's same as similar spots per pound but it is really convenient to pick some up and how early you can get it too.

This is honestly unacceptable 😰 Bought bok choy and grapes yesterday, went straight home and put them in the fridge. Opened them later and found rotten bok choy and moldy grapes hidden in the back. Selling spoiled produce like this is not okay. Be careful or avoid this store. …
