Located at 4122 Dyer St, Island Pacific Supermarket and Seafood | Filipino is a Filipino grocery store in Union City, CA that makes it easy to shop for familiar ingredients, everyday basics, and prepared foods in one stop. Open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., it is built for practical grocery runs, quick pickups, and larger family shopping trips. Backed by a 4.3-star rating from 721 reviews, the store has earned a steady reputation with people who want a clean, well-run place to find Filipino products close to home.
What stands out most is the selection of Philippines-made grocery products and the mix of items that bring comfort and nostalgia. Customers mention pantry favorites like otap, crunchy peanuts, egg crackers, and SkyFlakes, along with the staples that help support everyday cooking at home. Shoppers who have visited the Hayward location even note that this Union City store feels bigger and offers more variety. The store is also described as clean and well stocked, which matters when you want to get in, find what you need, and move on without a complicated search. For many local customers, especially those cooking Filipino recipes, that combination of familiar brands and dependable organization is the main reason this market keeps showing up on their list.
Another draw is the fresh hot deli, which adds a ready-to-eat option for people who do not always have time to cook. Reviewers say the deli brings hot food items into the mix, making the store useful for lunch, dinner, or something easy to bring home after work. Lechon and chicken chicharron are two items that come up often, with the lechon sold whole and the chicken chicharron sold by the pound. That setup works best for shoppers who already know what they want and are planning a meal or gathering around it, especially for busy weeknight cooking at home.
Beyond the shelves and deli, the atmosphere feels community-oriented and welcoming. One reviewer highlighted a holiday event with street food and performances that brought together shoppers of different ages, showing that the store can also function as a neighborhood gathering place. Others praised the service crew and manager for being attentive and caring, which adds to the sense that this is more than just a place to buy groceries. For families, longtime Filipino food lovers, and anyone in Union City looking for a dependable market with familiar flavors and a friendly pace, Island Pacific Supermarket and Seafood | Filipino offers a practical stop with a distinct local identity that fits everyday needs.

Sign in to reviewThis review is specifically about their holiday event that they hosted. I really enjoyed all of the street food and performances that they had at their store. It really created an environment of fun and holiday goodness. There were lots of different people at the store from older folks to young folks. The grocery store was also open for shopping. I’m always astounded by the amount of items I can get from the store. This includes fresh calamansi fruit and tableya. I wish we had one in San Francisco!
I visited Island Pacific Supermarket and Seafood to buy some eggs. The store was clean, and everything was great, but the cashier was too slow—I had to wait about 30 minutes just for eggs. Please improve the checkout speed!
This is a well stocked Filipino supermarket in this area because we can get most of the Philippines made grocery products for recipes. Also the childhood snacks we still crave: otap, crunchy peanuts, egg crackers, skyflakes. They also added a takeout deli with hot food items for those who cannot cook Filipino dishes. In the summer, they have outdoor BBQ and fish balls. Note: seniors get a 10% discount plus with a phone number membership, extra dollars points.
I love this UC place.. it's bigger and it now has a fresh hot deli.. the food is sarap! The only thing is the lechon is sold whole and the chicken chicharron has to be purchased by the pound..no halfers..but so far so good.. the store is bigger than the one in Hayward and they have a variety of more things to choose from.. The employees are sweet and helpful. They always have more than two registers open. I hope this store remains open for a long time because my Lola used to drag me there all the time and now I drag my grandson there with me.. and he's like noooo in a playful way. So this is home for me.. and memories of my lola and lolo.
