It's A Grind Coffee House

Dhruv (a name of a Hindu star) Anjileen (Si A hidden gem 💎 💎 💎 I hesitated to share cuz it’s super hard to find a relatively tranquil cafe within San Leandro among super stores like Costco, Walmart, Ross, Home Depot, Verizon, etc. Usually you find Starbucks and Macdonald or such fast food chains around these superstores so for this little gem playing soothing Korean love songs and serving Mexican American fusion food and cafe specialty drinks with an international twist such as the Russian Piroshki, Italian Calzone, and classic Italian Gelato is just rare 🤫 Check out their seasonal mixes: Cherry Blossom Mocha, Sakura White Chocolate Latte, and fresh gingered Chai or Mango Berry Iced Tea (alt Arnold Palmer). In the Bay Area, everything is so overpriced but I like that this cafe doesn’t try to exploit this trendy trend but keep the pricing grounded and reasonable. It says a lot about its proprietor Anjileen (Faithful) & Dhruv (a Star) with genuine smiles in the photo. *Remember to use the kiosk to order to see more specialty options and receive points and come before 4:00 pm.

It’s a nice setting. The food is pretty good. They are shady about the way they price. The sign posted says $9.99 for a breakfast sandwich but they charge for food items separately. Cream cheese is extra, an egg is extra. We expected a $25 charge turned into $40 dollars fast

A True Southern California Gem with Serious History. I love finding spots with real soul, and the San Leandro It’s A Grind is one of them. Started back in Long Beach in 1994/1995 as a little neighborhood coffee shop doing fresh roasted beans, friendly service, and that cozy homemade feel. It's even in the opening credits of Weeds and was Nancy Botwin’s favorite iced coffee. The new owner is awesome and really cherishes the history. They’ve got solid house roasted coffee, great lattes, smoothies, breakfast burritos, avocado toast, and pastries. You can just tell they care about the community roots. If you’re in San Leandro, stop by. This isn’t some generic chain. It’s California coffee history in every cup. Also, I saw some of the other reviews... one is not even photos of the same business, it shows photos of food they don't even sell. Why would a customer even be behind the counter or in a kitchen fridge? Completely different counters and everything. Go visit and support this California rooted coffee shop.

The ginger chai hit the spot!!! A perfect blend of delicious spices that felt like a hug to my soul! Paired with a cinnamon roll, that they heat up… Perfect mid day treat!!! Will definitely be back soon!

STAY AWAY!!! I recently had a truly unpleasant experience at this restaurant both personal and from insiders... From the moment I stepped inside, the place was a mess. The floors were sticky, and the tables hadn't been wiped down properly. Not to mention, you are greeted with flies. But the real horror came when the food arrived and the way it was prepared. From flies, to moldy food... a true disgust. They make employees pre heat the food and freeze it for the next day and the lady who runs the places reuses the receipt papers to wrap and label the burritos. The milk was once brought home from her house and was expired and made the employees reuse it. The food that was moldy was cut off and sold like that! Anything that was expired was used to make orders... The dish I ordered had a strange, off-putting smell, and upon closer inspection, I noticed mold growing on parts of the food. It looked like it hadn't been stored properly or had been sitting out for far too long. The texture was slimy, and the taste was even worse--like a mix of sour decay and old, rotting ingredients. The chorizo and bacon bits are frozen and microwaved along with eggs in a contaminated cutting and preparing the food area with flies always dancing around. Not to mention, the egg was sitting out for a couple of hours. When I tried to bring it to the staff's attention, I was met with indifference. To top it off, the general cleanliness of the restaurant was appalling. The bathroom was a disaster, and there were food stains and poop on the walls. With my careful observations I saw the main lady going in and not washing her hands. It's clear that cleanliness and food safety are not priorities here. Needless to say, I won't be returning, and I strongly advise anyone to stay far away from this place. It's a severe health hazard and a disgusting dining experience. This place needs to be shut down immediately due to the food poisoning!
