Sign in to reviewI wish I could give two reviews, one for the in-office experience with Dr. Ngo and another for everything else. I've been a patient for a couple of years and have had no complaints as I had no health issues or irregular test results until this year. Having the lab right across the hall is so convenient and I always feel like my appointments are on time and I don't feel rushed. In January, my father was diagnosed with primary liver cancer. He had a very large tumor that had been growing for what must have been quite some time but with absolutely no effect on his regular bloodwork, so it was undetected until he had some imaging done for an unrelated issue. Sadly, he passed about seven months later. When I came in for this year's checkup, I shared all of this with Dr. Ngo and asked that we proactively check AFP markers while running the routine bloodwork. She asked a lot of questions during my exam and got a full history of his illness, and asked if there had been any other changes to family history. She is very thorough, compassionate and thoughtful, and I feel like she truly hears and considers my concerns during my appointments with her. My problems have been with the timeliness of follow up. Initial blood test results with high tumor marker readings (AFP) were reported on 9/2. Alarming, considering what I had just experienced with my dad, right? On 9/5, I still hadn't heard anything so reached out through the portal and was told it would be a few days. I finally heard from Brisa on 9/10, who stated that Dr. Ngo would recommend getting some MRIs because of my family history. I got the MRI the same day and results were with Dr. Ngo's office on 9/15, and I confirmed they had been received. On 9/17, I followed up again. Clearly, I was incredibly stressed after having just watched my father die from the same type of cancer we were testing for. On 9/18, I finally spoke with Dr. Ngo, who again was very compassionate and took quite a bit of time with me. We decided to re-run the bloodwork and to wait for a full body scan that I had done to see MRI imaging of my chest. I submitted the additional MRI images on 9/22, went in for AFP re-testing on 9/23 and had bloodwork back in the portal on 9/24 that was higher than the initial reading. Obviously, I was alarmed and seeking guidance. On 9/25, I messaged through the portal again to confirm receipt. On 9/30, I followed up, asking when I could expect to hear from Dr. Ngo about next steps after reviewing all of the information. I was told she had been out of the office that day and was behind and still catching up. On 10/14 I reached out again, expressing frustration, albeit kindly, and asking whether or not I needed to seek a new PCP. Today is 10/17, and I have still heard nothing. I am at a loss because the out-of-office experience is 180 degrees different from my face-to-face time with Dr. Ngo. It is a total disconnect and while I feel like I'm a valued patient in office, it feels as if I don't exist when I'm not in front of her. I don't know if this has to do with her assistant, the office, or if something else is going on, but I am still anxious about what is going on with my health and have now decided to find a new PCP. If you are healthy and just need annual checkups, this is a great place for you. If you have a health issue, I'd recommend finding another practice.
Dr Ngo is very thorough and takes time to understand your needs. I couldn’t recommend a better PCP.
I was running late to my appointment and was unable to get through to call and let the office know due to driving and their phone system. Upon arrival I was 18 minutes late and the office has a 15 minute grace period. After pleading with the front desk, they would not allow me to keep my appointment. This type of inflexibilty was shocking. I was also told that they do not call patients to reschedule if running late because that is the patient responsibility. If this is the treatment for a few extra minutes late, then it reflects that the provider is not truly caring. I do not recommend this office or provider. They did not care that I coordinated child care for a newborn and drove 50 minutes. I left in tears and decided I will be transferring care to a physician's office that has a reasonable patient load and compassion.
Dr Ngo is the most kind and compassionate Dr I have seen. She takes time to listen to you and don’t rush through your visit. I would 100% recommend her to anyone who needs a primary care physician! She is just the Best!
I saw Dr. Ngo for an initial consultation and she was extremely thorough. I appreciated the time she spent getting to know me and hearing my concerns. She called me back as soon as my labs were available and took the time to explain the results and gave me feedback regarding necessary medications. She's an excellent clinician.
