I purposely waited two days before posting my review to make sure I’m not running high on emotion. I saw Kathy for a possible cut, color/perm last Friday, with the intent of doing whichever is recommended that would work best for my hair. I explained to her my hair journey and showed her pics of haircuts inspo, color, or perm. We landed on doing the perm as she she said my hair is healthy enough for a perm. I wanted a low maintenance hair style with volume and required no blow drying or using heating tools. I used to have perm a long time ago but concern that it may not be best for me now given that my hair is thin and treated. For the color that I want, she said it would require bleaching so I said no as I’ve never had my hair bleached. She first trimmed my hair (front layered and straighten the back). My hair is long (past the bra strap and she trimmed a good 2-4” inches all around, making sure all dry ends are gone. I showed her my old pics when I had a perm, and noted that I want it a lot more loosely than that (body wave/perm). She said no problem. Used mixed size of rod for a natural curl look. Half and hour or so later, as she rinsed my hair, she told me I have a hair like my nephew. I knew then something was wrong. As I have fine thin hair and my nephew is, course and thick. When I sat in front of the mirror, as she was blow drying my hair, I was shocked to see more than half of my hair (above my shoulder) was fried, falling off, and really damaged. The hair was literally coming off without even pulling it. Long story short. I had no choice but to cut it all the way below my ear. I was so upset I started crying. She wanted to do a Bob cut to get rid of the damaged area but I refused as I told her that is practically all my hair in the back. I tried uploading photo of what my hair looks like earlier that week (before the perm) for references but can’t figure out how to do it. I am still very devastated as I’ve never had anything like this experience. At the end I just had to accept whatever cut she needed to do to keep whatever could be salvaged. I asked Kathy how much and while she didn’t charge me ($140 w/ discount), she never once apologized for not taking the proper steps to prevent what happened as expected from a salon professional. Kathy physically examined my hair and touched it. Spent time cutting it, and so I was confident that she had a good feel of how my hair would respond to perm. She asked me if I ever bleached it, I said no. Only boxed dye and last time I dyed my hair was in Feb. I told her i frequently straighten it and curl it with hot iron, which I later find out is also a factor to consider. She knew I was contemplating between a perm or color as I knew I could not do both. I told her I prefer perm but only if my hair is healthy enough for it. She assured me it was. The end result was horrible. I lost 3/4 of hair and what’s left is still so dry and damaged.

Brought my 2 teen daughters and me to get a haircut and they were nice. I called ahead of time to see if its busy because its a rather small place but did a walk-in just fine.
Marry did an amazing job with my haircut! She really listened to what I wanted and gave me a style that suits me perfectly. The haircut was neat, stylish, and exactly how I imagined it. She was also very friendly and professional throughout the appointment. Highly recommend Marry if you’re looking for a great haircut experience!
Kathy is so sweet! I paid $80 for a root touch up for my peekaboo hair color. She was able to color match to the original light brown with just bleach alone, which I've heard is very hard to do! She was also able to fix the mistakes my last hair stylist made. I made an appt 2 days beforehand and she was able to slide me into her schedule. She mentioned she recommends walk ins and appts as early in the day as possible (mine was at opening, 10 AM), since her salon gets very busy starting in the afternoon and parking can be hard to get.
