Sign in to reviewI bought a very basic dual port 1600 engine for my Manx tupe dune buggy in 2019, that they had on the"shelf". I installed a 5000 rpm rev limiter, and this motor has lived on that limiter every summer since. I go to the Oregon dunes, and locally here in Washington State. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Took my 66 Ghia in Because she had a leak wasn’t running right smoking real bad and having a hard time starting. Picked it up two days later ran the best it’s ever ran. Thought the pricing was extremely reasonable. I’ve been there before thinking it was a major issue and it wasn’t these are some very honest people
Fast, friendly, honest and experienced. I am so happy with the work that Klines did for me. I sent them a 1968 autostick engine to rebuild. They found a crack in the case but quickly found a good dual relief case that worked great. When I went to pick up the finished long block, they invited me to look around their shop. I was impressed with all the VW specialty tools and equipment they have along with their VW knowledge. I got the engine back in the car and it runs great! Thanks Kline brothers.
The way a repair shop should be.... Can't say enough... I just bought a replica speedster that has had a few issues. I found Rodger and Dave via a google search and went to them today with a broken relief plug/oil level sensor (or something) they quickly sorted out exactly what I had done and got me a new relief plug. When I got home and attempted to install the plug i just could not for the life of me get it to go in with the spring. I called and Rodger worked some kind of Jedi mind trick air-cooled wisdom on me and talked me off the ledge an instilled some confidence in me. 15 min after that phone call I had the plug in with the spring... Consider my business fully earned from here on out. Thanks guys!!!
Both Roger and his brother have been very helpful in assisting me in a motorized bicycle project i have been working on for college. I contacted other Volkswagen repair shops in San Diego asking for help, and i was basically blown off, because "they didn't have time for experiments." Roger took 2 hours out of his busy day to help me, answered more than 30 questions i had, and even gave me a bunch of parts to use for mock up, at no cost. Kline's is without a doubt the best place to go in San Diego for all your Air-cooled needs!
