Sign in to reviewI started a new dental relationship with La Mesa Hills Dentistry (LMHD) after my dentist for 20 years retired a few years ago. LMHD has been a great, low pressure, high service environment. Yesterday, I had a procedure done that Dr. Fjelstad finally recommended after two years of regular teeth cleaning appointments. Again, I really appreciated Dr. Fjelstad’s low key recommendation, and the results from the needed intervention. I’m also not crazy about the additional $60 for the antibacterial treatment after a teeth cleaning, which is the only thing my insurance doesn’t cover, but I have read multiple articles about the importance of this added step to teeth cleaning and it makes good sense. All in all, I’m glad I have a new dentist I can trust and depend on for good advice and procedural work.
The front office staff is unprofessional, rude, and they make assumptions about your coverage without even looking into your plan. They are going to run this place into the ground. Two visits ago, when I was checking out, the black lady was on an active FaceTime phone call and she ended up confusing me twice with two different people. She ended up wrongfully charging me once and almost did it a second time because she was too busy on her phone. That is after I told her multiple times what my name was. That is extremely unprofessional of her to be on her phone when she is talking to a client. My last cleaning a few weeks ago on a Thursday, I inquired about a night guard at the front desk. She immediately said no, I do not have any coverage for that. She didn't even bother looking into my plan or calling Delta Dental. She just assumed I didn't. I ended up calling them myself later that day and they said I did in fact have that coverage. The conversation took 10 minutes. I called the office back that day and said I just spoke to the insurance and I did have the benefit. I was told I would get a call back. No call on Friday so I called them back on Monday and they made no progress. They then told me it would be a few days till they get back to me. What? I just verified it within 10 minutes on the phone. These people are an absolute joke. I have since taken my business elsewhere.
Avoid this place at all cost for crowns. I paid almost $1,000 out of pocket for a crown and they placed it on top of a filling. Now I have to pay another $1,000 forr a new dentist to do the job correctly. This review s simply for the Specialist.
A very kind and compassionate dental practice from the front desk, the hygienist, assistants and our dentist. Our Mom has some dementia and they are exceptionally patient!
Don’t go here unless you wanna pay 60 extra dollars for laser therapy. They won’t even see you or clean your teeth without shooting you with a laser afterwards to kill the bacteria that causes gum disease. Obviously just wait to suck another $60 out of every patient who walks through the door. Why do offices have to be this way? Why can’t they just clean your teeth?
