Sign in to reviewI had an amazing experience working with Sylvia, the Legal Assistant, and attorney Kevin LaPorte. Sorry, it took me a couple of months to write this review, but they truly deserve it. From start to finish, they were professional, responsive, and genuinely cared about my case. Sylvia was always helpful and organized, making the entire process feel much less stressful. Kevin LaPorte was knowledgeable, confident, and guided me every step of the way. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, I was approved for SSDI on my first attempt and received approval within only 8 months. I’m extremely grateful for everything they did and would highly recommend them to anyone needing help with disability benefits or legal assistance.
I had an excellent experience working with LaPorte Law Firm. They were professional, knowledgeable, and truly cared about my case. From the first consultation to the final decision, Kevin and Terry guided me through every step with patience and confidence. They always kept me informed, answered my questions clearly, and made a complicated process much easier to understand. Their dedication and attention to detail made all the difference — and thanks to their hard work, my case was successfully approved. I highly recommend this attorney to anyone dealing with a Social Security Disability claim. You can trust them to handle your case with integrity, compassion, and real expertise.
I can’t recommend LaPorte Law Firm highly enough. After four long years, two denials, and finally a hearing, I was awarded disability benefits thanks to their dedication and expertise. My case was complex and required constant record updates, but attorney Kevin LaPorte and legal assistant Sylvia Marichalar guided me every step of the way. They always responded quickly, eased my worries, and gave me confidence to keep going through an overwhelming process. When it came time for my hearing, Kevin’s preparation and deep experience made all the difference. He helped me know what to expect and supported me in presenting my case clearly and confidently. Even after I received a favorable decision, Kevin took the time to explain what it meant for my future. I’ve since referred friends to LaPorte Law Firm in Oakland because they are truly a beacon of hope for people navigating the Social Security Disability process. They combine professionalism, compassion, and genuine care for their clients — qualities that mean everything when you’re facing one of life’s most uncertain moments.
I think everyone can agree that when it’s about people and their money and their health, it can get emotional. Now add in being dissatisfied and feeling like there have been instances of malfeasance or malpractice. Although you have a services contract you never hear from the actual partners, or an actual lawyer. Since I’m not a lawyer or a paralegal, I can’t be sure if what we’ve experienced Is actionable, but I do know when you ask for something in writing and they won’t deliver it, or you are promised follow up and it doesn’t happen and then you put a clock on something and there’s no response even to say I can’t meet that deadline. it’s not a good thing. This is not a firm I can recommend - The firm has now replied for all to see that it appears that they care. The fact is, I did call this afternoon and was told by the receptionist that the representative that had been assigned to us would no longer speak to me and then the receptionist hung up. I followed this lack of accountability up with an email to the two named principal partners. I told them it was time sensitive, and although it was the afternoon, I did ask for a response. When you get an email like this you respond. Even if it is to say you can’t fully respond because you need to review the matter. That is the professional thing to do. I mean if you are going to cash the $9,200 check that social security mailed to your firm for an engagement that was less then one year - with no required appeal (it was all MY work that made this happen) the minimum you should do is reply along the lines of “I need to look into this. It’s Friday afternoon so we might not connect until Monday” That’s reasonable. The response below from the business is not, it’s just the lip service and disingenuous.
We are extremely grateful to LaPorte Law Firm for helping with my son Kien’s SSI disability case. Our case had already been denied twice, and we contacted the firm only a short time before the scheduled hearing. Even with such short notice, they did their best to step in, review the case carefully, and represent us professionally. I first received a call from Lawyer Ms. Kelsey Anderson-Kline, then Mr. Kevin LaPorte, the firm’s senior attorney. During our phone conversation, Mr. Kevin calmly analyzed our situation, patiently answered all my questions, and clearly explained the application and hearing process. He also explained how the fee structure works and reassured us that he would only get paid if the case was approved. He did a great job simplifying everything, and I never felt overwhelmed by any “lawyer speak.” Kevin and his team were knowledgeable, responsive, and very supportive throughout this stressful process. They gave us confidence and peace of mind after a long and difficult journey. We truly appreciate their dedication and hard work, and we highly recommend LaPorte Law Firm to anyone who needs help with an SSI or disability case.
