Based on customer feedback, Lien John Hau MD is known less for a polished office experience and more for the doctor’s direct medical role. Several reviewers specifically describe the physician as a capable cardiologist who took good care of them or their family member, while others point to frustrating operational issues at the office. The most common concerns mentioned in reviews involve appointment scheduling, long waits even with a reserved time, and limited updates from staff while patients are in the waiting room. That pattern suggests this practice may be a fit for people who prioritize seeing an established local cardiologist and who are prepared for possible delays.
For local SEO and practical neighborhood relevance, it is helpful to know that Lien John Hau MD is a Cardiologist in San Jose, California serving patients who may need evaluation after ER visits, follow-up for existing heart concerns, or continued specialty care over time. Reviews also indicate that some families bring elderly relatives to appointments, and one reviewer notes the doctor’s connection with Vietnamese-speaking patients. That may make the practice especially relevant for Vietnamese households in San Jose looking for a familiar option for cardiology care, although individual experiences appear mixed and expectations about front-desk service should stay realistic.
The overall atmosphere described by reviewers is functional rather than highly service-oriented. Patients mention that the office can feel busy, and waiting may be part of the experience. At the same time, the positive comments focus on the doctor’s quality of care rather than hospitality or scheduling efficiency. If you are comparing heart doctors in San Jose, CA, Lien John Hau MD may be worth considering for patients who value the physician relationship first and can plan extra time around the visit.
As with any healthcare choice, it helps to call ahead, confirm logistics, and prepare questions about records, timing, and follow-up before visiting Lien John Hau MD in San Jose. For nearby residents seeking a Cardiologist with recognition among local Vietnamese patients, this practice stands out as a known community option, with the clearest takeaway being mixed office service but more positive comments about the doctor’s clinical care itself.

Please don’t bring your family members to see this doctor. I’ve witnessed a lot of questionable practices in this office. He cares more about making money than diagnosing his patients. My mom visited him to try to figure out her heart condition after a couple ER visits. We brought the medical records and results from the hospital, but he waved them off and made her do a bunch of the same tests again. The kicker is when we came back for a follow up, we found out that he never even look at the tests he made my mom take. When we questioned him, he ran to the back of the office and dig out her ultrasound and imagining results and tried to analyze them on the spot. He barely looked at them and then told her that her heart was fine. Which is insulting to our intelligence. This guy is just making people take tests at his office so he can charge their insurance and medical coverages. When my mom told him that she has been feeling weak and a lot more fatigue than usual, his response was “what do you want me to tell you? when you are old, it’s normal to be tired.” What kind of unprofessional response is this?! Just a warning. Please don’t let your elderly parents visit this unethical doctor. There are other cardiologists out there.
5 stars for the doctor and one star for the staff. All dumb reviewers above could not separate out quality of service from quality of care. Dr. Lien is a great cardiologist, and took great care of me. Office service is not good and needs improvement. Would you give a restaurant a one-star review if you have to line up for an hour to be seated? So you tell people that is a very bad restaurant and one should go to another one that has no line and no one eating? 20 years ago I took my mom-in-law to the greatest cardiologist of all time, Dr. Ngai Nguyen, and we waited for 2 hours. There are many cardiologists who have no waiting time and few book appointments. Go see them.
This office is horrible in term of booking an appointment and wait time at the office. The wait is at least 60 minutes or more with appointment, with no update of when you'd be call in. When I asked when my turn was after my elderly Mom waited an hour, they couldn't even give an estimate. My Mom is diabetes and on wheel chair and had to go to restroom 2-3 times during the wait. Your time is precious, and people time is trash? Not to mention the doctor is not that great and didn't do much or give much advice. If it wasn't an appointment for my Mom, I would NEVER visit such an office that is not respecting people's time. I am looking for another cardiologist for my Mom.
My father in law was his patient for years,. My father in law cannot speak English well, so he chose Dr John ( Vietnamese calls him Dr Ho Lien) . Anytime I drop him off for appointment to visit the Dr John , he always was late at least 2 hours because any excuses ( surgery in hospital, as a doctor if you know you will have a surgery operation, you should be known about it).I don’t think he is a good or professional doctor to give your health and your life to his hands because if he cannot manage his time well then how can he treat your health well. You cannot be a good or professional person, if you don’t have any plan in your life.
