Sign in to reviewCame on a Thursday evening with a friend for dinner. You order first inside and then find a seat after, some of the tables are lower and feel more for lounging & drinking than eating. I was big unclear if sitting at the bar if you order through the bar or inside. They give you a pager for your food but also.... There's no way of knowing where you went so they end up circling the restaurant looking for you. I wanted to order the ramen, but they were sold out, so I got the Malaysian chicken curry bowl instead. The bowl had a good amount of food, I wish it had more veggies and maybe more sauce. It was good but I'd likely venture to get something different. My friend ordered the chicken karaage and corn fritters and the sampler platter. The chicken was yummy and the dipping sauce paired well, the fritters were on the saltier side. I was full so I didn't try all the things in the sampler platter but it was a good amount of food for $25. You can taste the smokiness in the wings. I would be open to returning to try another dish.
Happy hour was well worth it for happy hour. Just sad you cant get their bbq until after 4pm. Happy hour pulled pork sandwich is huge portion for $5 and $5 smashburger, 7 wings for $7 wasn't bad either. Wish I liked more spicy foods are the sause had amazing flavor but was just too spicy for my tolerance. Frozen mango sake and frozen espresso martini were great!!
Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar was a bit of a mixed experience for us. Given that it's a collaboration between two of Austin's most respected restaurant groups, we went in with high expectations for the fusion concept. While the food is well prepared and has good flavor, some of the menu combinations felt a little random and not as thoughtfully integrated as we had hoped. The service was also underwhelming during our visit. When you're paying premium prices, attentive and polished service becomes part of the overall experience, and that piece just didn't quite measure up for us. That said, the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. The food itself is flavorful, well executed, and there are several dishes that show real promise. Even though our first experience didn't completely live up to the hype, there was enough there to make us interested in giving it another shot. We'll be back to see if our next visit changes our perspective.
Had dinner here with a colleague based on their suggestion. We ordered a spread of items and shared everything which I would suggest to get a taste of many different items. We ordered the Pulled Pork Tostadas, Crispy Fried Thai Ribs, The …
Pretty cool place. We went there around 3pm and watched soccer game as we ate late lunch. They have happy hour 2-5pm on weekdays. The quality of food was great. Great location, too.
