Lunch here can work well for a solo break, a meal at your desk, or food to share with coworkers. Reviewers describe picking up takeaway and bringing lunch back to the office, while others mention the possibility of eating outside. Dishes are prepared to order, so timing may vary: one customer reported a wait of about 25 minutes, while another praised the food as freshly made. If you are on a tight schedule, it may be helpful to allow extra time rather than assume every order will be ready immediately. For customers who value a hot meal made fresh, that wait may be part of the experience.
Chicken teriyaki is a reliable choice for guests who want a familiar, filling lunch, and reviewers have ordered it with both noodles and fried rice. The option to choose noodles instead of rice is worth noting if you prefer a different base. Other reported combinations include teriyaki meat and shrimp with salad, while tofu is also mentioned by a customer. Portions and balance can vary by experience: some guests praise generous servings, while one review felt that a plate had too much salad and too little meat and shrimp. Reading those perspectives together gives a more realistic picture than expecting every dish to suit every appetite. The drink selection mentioned by customers offers another way to round out a lunch.
Service is also part of the feedback. One reviewer singled out cook Eli for attentive service and food that tasted carefully prepared, while another described a corrected order after receiving tofu instead of chicken. Experiences differ, as they do at any restaurant, but the comments point to a place where guests can speak up if an order needs attention. Lotus Test Kitchen has a 4.7-star rating from 256 reviews, giving prospective diners a useful snapshot of customer feedback alongside the mixed details in individual experiences. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and closed Saturday and Sunday. For people working, meeting, or running errands near Chauncy Street, this Boston spot is suited to weekday takeaway, a casual lunch with colleagues, or a teriyaki meal enjoyed at your own pace.

I ordered the Teriyaki chicken with noodles (not the rice). I also ordered different beverages, like tea or a juice-type beverage (refreshing and tasty). It’s a nice, hidden destination for a good lunch at your desk or with co-workers, to take back to the office and maybe eat outside. The chicken was good, and the tempura noodles were soft and flavorful. The salad was a good portion size.
Ordered the teriyaki meat and shrimp with salad. Took about 25 minutes to prepare, which felt long for what we got. The portions of meat and shrimp were really small, and most of the plate was packed with salad that was overwhelmingly …
The cook, Eli, is outstanding. Wonderful food, his service was impeccable. You can tell he makes it with Love. You can taste it in every bite. He should retire from music and cook here full time.
it was my first time here. I went with the ole reliable chicken teriyaki with fried rice.they gave me tofu over rice and they did fix it, by scooping off the tofu and putting the chicken. Since there was teriyaki sauce all over the tofu, and then they plopped saucy chicken over it, it made the food presentation look sloppy. The rice was also very clumpy and soggy. Currently waiting on a refund!
Love love love this place for takeaway. Whenever I am in Boston I make sure I grab my lunch here. Good portions, freshly made and so delicious!
