Several reviewers have noted how the professional products used during and after the coloring process—especially those available at the blow-dry station—leave hair with healthy weight, excellent shine, and lasting hold. The shampoo and conditioner offered on-site have also received positive mentions for their quality, helping clients maintain their fresh color long after they leave the chair.

This hair salon in San Diego is ideal for anyone who wants a dedicated color experience without the complexity of a full-service appointment. This was my first time in at the Color Bar. I would like to start by saying the stylist was very kind of made me feel very comfortable... however the color is not good. I am typically a dark brunette and was coming in to have my roots done. I specifically said i do not like any reds or coppers - I have washed my hair three times total since the appointment and my roots are COPPER and no where near the color i requested. This is the opposite of what i requested. Color should not rinse after 3 times especially for the price paid and they should not fade to a copper from DARK brown if done correctly. I have emailed customer service for Madison Reed with no response to fix the color issue.

This is locates on the east side of UTC where Pacific Catch is. I made my appointment online and it was pretty easy. I arrived 10 minutes early. They asked me to sit on one of the chairs and gave me a robe while the colorist is finishing up a customer. They took a picture of my hair and suggested a color that I agreed with. My scalp is super sensitive but was surprised that their solution did not give me that burning feeling on my scalp. After 40 minutes, someone else rinsed my hair and she was very nice. After the rinse, they walk you to where the blow dryer is and you have to dry it yourself or pay $50 extra for them to blow dry for you. They give you products you can use for your hair while brow drying. I like this place but will only be a back up and will go back to my usual stylist when she comes back from leave

I am SO happy with the service I received. My colorist, Faye was absolutely fantastic! I walked in with brassy, tired out hair that I've been coloring myself. I walked out with soft shiny, beautifully colored hair and immediately called a friend to tell her to book. Highly recommend.

I rarely leave bad reviews, but I wish someone had warned me about this place before I went, so I'm warning others. The people are friendly and kind, so it's not on them but on the system. I was sold a quality hair salon experience and did not get that. The root touch up went fine as did the wash out, but then I was taken to a corner where I was supposed to dry and style my own hair, which was so unusual and not something I was warned about. When I looked in the mirror, I had dye thick along my hairline and down onto my forehead, and a large swatch of it behind my ears. Both obvious. There were alcohol pads to wipe it off, but why go get a professional job done if it's just as messy as at home – and why did two professionals not see that this was staining my forehead? I had a meeting that afternoon and it was annoying to know I was going into that with stains on my head. Then to have to stand there in the corner doing my own hair in front of the assistants just milling around was weird. If this was a cheap place, that would be one thing – you pay for what you get. But at $90 for a root touch up, I expect to not have a dyed forehead and at least be warned that I'd have to dry my own hair in a corner. I don't need a blow out, but I have never had a place not even dry your hair for you. Again, the staff was kind, not on them, but this system is not the luxurious experience I was sold when I bought my membership. I feel badly leaving a negative review, but seriously, it was that cheap of an experience and I wish I'd known ahead of time it would be like that.
