Midtown Automotive Repair is an auto repair shop at 1590 N Williams St in Denver, CO 80218. The shop is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and closed Saturday and Sunday. Its weekday schedule may suit people who can arrange service during business hours; call ahead to confirm availability for a specific repair.

Customers often mention the people and communication as important parts of their experience. Reviews describe Mario and the team as friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, and appreciate clear explanations of the work. One customer valued having a mechanic distinguish between what needed attention immediately and what might need to be watched in the coming months. Another praised Scotty for providing updates during a complex Vanagon repair and making sure the customer understood the work. These comments suggest that drivers who want to ask questions and stay informed may appreciate the shop’s approach.

The customer feedback also points to a range of repair needs. One driver reports getting a tire patched quickly and being back on the road in about 30 minutes. Other reviews describe larger jobs, including an engine rebuild and work on the front end of a Volkswagen Vanagon. This mix of experiences may make Midtown Automotive Repair worth considering whether you have a straightforward tire concern or need to discuss a more involved repair. The specific services available, vehicle coverage, timing, and estimate will depend on the shop’s assessment, so contact the team with your vehicle details and symptoms before arranging a visit.

The shop has a 4.1-star rating from 127 reviews, reflecting a variety of customer experiences rather than a guarantee of any particular outcome. Many reviewers speak positively about attentive service, personable mechanics, and helpful explanations; one review also describes an unsatisfactory visit. As with any repair decision, it can help to discuss the concern, ask what work is recommended now, and request clarification on any proposed repairs before authorizing them. For drivers in central Denver seeking a neighborhood repair shop with customer-reported experience on Volkswagen vehicles and both quick and substantial repairs, Midtown Automotive Repair is located on N Williams Street and is open on weekdays.

This is the place to take your old VW in Denver. I had my Vanagon engine rebuilt and an overhaul on the front end. Scotty was very friendly and communicative, providing updates throughout the entire process and making sure that I understood what they were doing. And Joe who worked on my van, treated it like his own. They did such a spectacular job on my van, fixing even little things that I didn’t even ask them to do. My van is running and looking better than at anytime since I bought it. I wouldn’t hesitate to take my vehicle to them again.

Mario was such an amazing mechanic, very thorough and also personable. It’s really important to me as someone new in the area to find a trusted mechanic that is going to be straightforward about what’s necessary now versus what to look out for in the coming months that might need work soon. Even Flor managing the front desk and admin was super personable and made me feel at ease when I had any questions or looking for an update. Thank you guys for helping me out when my car broke down and you knew I was paying for a rental car out of pocket and needed a timely fix. You guys are the best!

I used to have a very good relationship with these guys but my last visit left me very sour. I came with the concern that my parking break light was on when it shouldn't be and gave them some theory's on why that might be (I thought maybe my parking break was stuck). After leaving my truck here for 2 days the communication was very poor and disorganized. They used to have a woman who would work the counter who was very nice and communicative but it seems she has since left which I theorize is why the communication was so poor this time around. They eventually got back to me and quoted me 1400$ to replace my parking break linkage and actuator. I declined the repair with the suspicions that they did not actually do any diagnostics which I gleamed from the very poor communication I mentioned earlier. Turns out my break fluid reservoir was nearly empty. Not only does this take 30 seconds to check (which they did not do apparently) it is also an indication of a much more serious issue with my break system. I topped this fluid off to prevent the issue from getting worse and trapping air in the system and my parking break light immediately turned off Indicating no actual problems with the parking break like they claimed there was. I'll be taking this to a different shop to get diagnosed further but I cannot stress how disappointed I am with this shop after the many other times I've used them to much success. They have lost me as a customer and I will no longer be recommending them to anyone.
