How careless replacements of brake pads could’ve led to myself or others getting seriously hurt or even killed…. I was recommended by a friend to go here and use this as a mechanic shop. On my second visit I needed to get my rear brake pads replaced. They replace them…..so I thought. As soon as I get in my car and drive away in the lot, I start hearing a rattling noise like something is loose. That noise was not there before I took it to the shop. I turn back around and tell the guy with the colored hair that something sounds weird and it wasn’t there before. He gets in with me and I let him drive. He tells me that it’s my shocks because when they looked at my car they noticed some leakage on my shocks but it wasn’t anything crazy that needed to be repaired immediately. I still thought that was weird because STILL before that moment I hadn’t hear that nose at all. I drive home and I can hear it when I hit small bumps on the road but I thought maybe it would go away. Fast forward to the next day, I still hear the noise. I’m heading downtown on the freeway and the noise starts getting worse like something’s rattling. I’m coming up on a big part of traffic and start to apply my brakes…my brakes weren’t responding and I had to push the brake pedal ALLLL the way to the floor then remembered to pump them if that ever happened 🤷‍♂️. The noise was so much worse now. I drove slow and got off the freeway and checked my wheel….the brake pad had come COMPLETELY OFF! I was PISSED! I called a tow truck to come pick up my car and take me home. Since it was Sunday I had to wait until the next day to get it towed back to the shop. I called Mike and told him exactly what happened. When I got to the shop I was clearly upset and let them know that this could’ve ended differently with me driving on the freeway…I had no brakes for a bit and it was the scariest thing. They agreed to fix the brakes and offered to replace my shocks free of charge but I thought it was just a cover up because if something was actually wrong with my shocks they should’ve said something in the first place, but they did not. I told them I wanted a refund and just to put the brake back on like it’s supposed to. The refund was given but the fact that a repair as simple as a brake pad replacement was done poorly and carelessly is unacceptable.

I highly recommend Mike’s Automotive Shop! They have worked on three different vehicles for our family and have done an excellent job every time. The repairs were completed quickly, the pricing was fair, and the quality of the work was outstanding. On top of that, everyone there is super friendly, honest, and easy to work with. It’s hard to find a mechanic you can trust, and Mike’s Automotive has definitely earned our business. We will continue bringing our vehicles there and recommending them to others!

I am beyond grateful for Mike and his auto shop! He recently replaced the catalytic converter and air conditioner compressor on my car, and the service was outstanding.
