Mithepheap Market, Oakland This small mom and pop’s shop has been around for quite some time. This is definitely a local’s favorite and a hidden gem! The ladies that are there are always helpful and friendly. I've been going here for many years because they have a lot of fresh pre-made Laos foods! One of the only places I can find is Khai Being aka Lao Baked Seasoned Eggs! They also have pre-made papaya salads and balut also! The owner is very sweet and helpful! I often find special ingredients that I won’t be able to find elsewhere. This shop also sell prep food so it’s easy to grab and go! I highly recommend this small shop and often come here for more than 15 years. Great service every time! ———————————————————- Updates: June, 2026 Mithepheap Market, Oakland I love coming to this mom and pop’s, locally own shop. One of my favorites in my neighborhood. I’ve been coming here for years now and they are always so kind and friendly. They also recommend foods that I haven’t tried yet! Mithepheap Market has all the ingredients I need when I’m making my meals. When I’m on the go, I love coming by to pick up some ready to eat foods such as papaya salad and Banh Xeo. I love how they packed the papaya salad with the roasted peanuts on the side. The Banh Xeo comes in 2 pieces and it’s separated by banana leaves so it’s easy to pull apart. Highly recommend this local favorite, it’s such a hidden gem!

Super kind owners, they sell a wide range of products. Southeast Asian produce, Khmer/Cambodian and Vietnamese food and dessert, plants/small trees, even imports from the Philippines, Myanmar, and Indonesia/Malaysia, too. Sometimes, they offer extra goodies on the side with your purchase. Last time, I got a few free apples. This time, one of the owners gave me fried sweet potato. Please support a local business!!!
