Located at 7000 N Mopac Service Rd Ste 200 - Unit 2112, Austin, TX 78731, the business is a practical option for vehicle owners who would rather have a mechanic come to them than arrange a trip to a traditional repair shop. For Austin residents dealing with a car that will not start, warning lights, or drivability concerns, mobile service can make an already stressful situation more manageable.
Customer feedback frequently points to clear communication and thorough diagnostic work. Reviewers describe mechanics who take time to explain vehicle issues in plain language, including concerns involving a specific transmission. That detail matters for people who want to understand what is happening with their car before deciding on repairs. The experience described is professional and straightforward, with an emphasis on reviewing the troubleshooting a customer has already done and confirming the likely cause of the problem.
Reported service examples include diagnosing and replacing a bad starter, addressing a vehicle that was sputtering and would not stay running, and evaluating a suspected water-pump issue. One customer noted that a replacement starter they had purchased online was installed in roughly 90 minutes, while another reported receiving a same-day appointment and same-day repair for an engine-running problem. These reviews suggest Mobile Auto Clinic can be a useful Austin car repair choice when prompt diagnosis and on-site repair are priorities.
The atmosphere is less about a waiting room and more about the convenience of having a mechanic meet you at your location. Customers have described the team as honest, professional, thorough, and fair on price, while also noting responsive appointment contact by phone and text. As with any auto repair decision, it is sensible to discuss the vehicle's symptoms, needed parts, service scope, availability, and pricing directly before work begins.
With a 4.8 rating from 951 reviews, Mobile Auto Clinic in Austin, Texas has built a substantial public feedback record. It may be especially well suited to busy commuters, people managing an unexpected no-start condition, and drivers who value explanations they can follow without technical jargon. Whether the concern is a check-engine light, starter trouble, a suspected cooling-system issue, or a car that is running poorly, this mobile car repair and maintenance service offers an on-location alternative for Austin vehicle owners.

Sign in to reviewI highly recommend this business. The mechanic was able to arrive earlier than expected, was very thorough, explained a lot about my issue and my specific transmission in plain language I could understand. He was very honest and professional. The cost was quite a bit lower than I expected, which was a relief.
Really impressive operation. Called and texted for an appointment, got to me the next morning. Quickly reviewed the troubleshooting I had done and validated it was a bad starter. Installed a replacement starter I got online in only 90 minutes or so. Felt like a fair price as well. Would recommend!
Beware of Mobile Auto Clinic. They will drop you like a lead balloon. In March 2025, my check engine light came on. I searched and searched for a mobile mechanic, read through tons of reviews. Mobile Auto Clinic was highly reviewed, so I reached out to them for service. I was really excited when they could show up the day that I got ahold of them. GGreat service! Looking at the check engine code, they determined that it was something wrong with my evap system. They replaced a part in my evap system, I am not mechanic, so can't remember what part that was on their first visit, but the cost was around $140. They assured me that the problem was fixed. Well, it wasn't fixed. My check engine light came back on. I got a hold of them and they decided to replace Fuel Evaporative Canister for $488.21. They told me that all should be good to go. We'll, it wasn't. My check engine light came back on. There were a few other visits trying to determine what was going on. In those visits, one of there mechanics told me to put Vaseline on my gas cap- said that maybe it was a seal issue with my gas tank. Tried that, check engine light came back on. There were a couple of other visit fees, I even drove from SW Austin to their shop to have my truck smoked, they said that they could only do it at the shop. They didn't find any issues in the smoke test, but I do have another invoice for 555.77 for Replace Canister Purge Valve and Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor. Again they said that problem should be fixed. Again, check engine light came back on. Next thing they did was Replace Purge Line Going to Evap Solenoid for $499.35. Again, problem fixed. Nope check engine light came back on. They came back out a couple more times- replaced some seals or something. Totally fixed this time. Nope, nope, nope. Check engine light came back on. I texted the mechanic, Ben Barchuh, to let him know that light was back on. He said that he talked to some gmc mechanics or something, and that they said that we should just replace the rest of the evap system. I told Ben that I was nervous about that cost because I am really financially strapped right now. I asked for a quote for the rest of the system before we did the work. He said that he would get it over to me, but, in the meantime, I could just clear the check engine light myself. I have no idea how to do that! We'll, it has been weeks without hearing back from Ben even though I have sent him multiple texts. I contacted the shop to let them know that Ben hadn't gotten back with me. They said that they would have him touch base with me. Still nothing weeks later. I have now been trying to get ahold of the shop, and they have stopped responding to me. Not good business. It is now the end of May 2026 and my check engine light is still on. More than a year working with them and still not fixed. I have been patient, nice, easy to work with, understanding. I've tipped the mechanics a few times on top of labor and parts costs. I'm not sure what I did to them to have them completely ghost me. Apparently, when they can't fix something and you tell them that you are broke, you are a worthless customer to them. Really makes me feel like garbage. So it seems I'm not a good enough customer for them. I really was trusting them to fix the issue- I thought that they were experts. I guess not. When they can't fix something, they completely disappear. It's unfortunate because I really liked everyone that I worked with there. I had no problem giving them the chance to fix my vehicle because they seemed so honest and kind. Stupid me. Like I said at the beginning of this review, I chose Mobile Auto Clinic because they had great reviews. It seems like many have had great experiences with them. I thought that I was having a great experience with them until they ghosted me. Very disappointing. I know that I am just one person, but maybe folks will read this to help them decide whether or not to do business with Mobile Auto Clinic.
I had an issue with my car sputtering and not wanting to stay on. Called the mobile auto clinic, got an appointment same day. And they fixed my car same day! Ben was awesome!! Definitely recommend!
I was pretty sure the water pumped was the issue and wanted a diagnosis and perhaps replacement. Having used mobile mechanics before, I've learned to have lower expectations, generally speaking, however, in this instance, from the very beginning I knew I was in good hands. They rolled up in a jacked up ram truck to work on a Ram, 1500. The lead mechanic was a total pro and had a Ram like mine. Thr second mechanic was the proud owner of that amazing Beast they rode in on. They confirmed it was a water pump, making that noise. Proceeded to have the parts delivered. He rejected the first pump due to misaligned gasket. Ordered second part, this time they went out and got it came back quickly. Installed, got it runing. We'll definitely use these guys again. Are there other crews working under this particular company? I'm sure, but I can't attest to their quality. The crew, led by David. I did not catch his last name was absolutely stellar. End of story.
