For local customers searching for car repair in Oakland, this shop is associated with the former Glenn Logan location and now operates under newer management. The business is listed with a 3.5-star rating from 21 reviews, which reflects a range of customer experiences, from very appreciative comments about communication and help with parts to concerns about follow-through and repair results. That mix makes it a shop where asking clear questions, confirming estimates, and staying in touch throughout the repair process can be especially helpful.

Customers who had positive experiences often mention attentive service and direct communication. One reviewer described the new owner as helpful and communicative while their truck was in the shop, including several update calls and even a nearby delivery when pickup was difficult for a parent with small children. Another customer appreciated that Paul was willing to pick up parts late in the day, show what was being done, and complete the work at what felt like a reasonable price. These details suggest a practical, hands-on repair environment where customers may value personal attention as much as the repair itself.

As an auto repair shop in Oakland, CA, Mobile Automasters - Tinker Time - Former Glenn Logan may be a fit for drivers who want a neighborhood mechanic for everyday vehicle issues, parts-related service, brake concerns, starter or battery problems, and general repair conversations. The reviews specifically reference trucks, brakes, rebuilt starters, batteries, and parts pickup, so those are areas prospective customers may want to discuss when calling or visiting. Because some reviews describe unresolved problems or long delays, it is wise to confirm the expected timeline, request updates in writing when possible, and ask how the shop handles repairs that need additional diagnosis.

The location on Shattuck Ave. can be convenient for Oakland drivers who live or work nearby and need weekday availability, with posted hours from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday. Weekend hours are also listed, including Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which may help people who cannot easily arrange car service during the workweek. For busy households, commuters, and local residents, flexible hours and clear communication can make a stressful repair visit easier to manage.

For anyone considering Mobile Automasters - Tinker Time - Former Glenn Logan in Oakland, the best approach is to contact the shop directly, describe the issue clearly, and ask about diagnostics, pricing, parts, and completion time before leaving a vehicle. The business has both loyal praise and serious criticism in its review history, so transparency matters. Drivers who prefer a local, direct conversation with a mechanic may find value here, especially if they set expectations early and keep a record of agreed services.

The new owner of Automasters is great and the customer service was excellent. He was very communicative while he had my truck, calling several times to update me. And he delivered my truck to my house (I live close) when he learned I had small children and picking up was going to be difficult (carseats can't go in a truck). I don't know anything about cars, but the truck wouldn't run and the cab smelled like gas when he took it. He replaced the fuel pump and it's been running fine since then.

This place is the Worst, Unprofessional, Lairs! Paul claims that they're the best mechanics in the business, that is just a lie. The place was recommended because of Glenn but since now it is under new management. Had my breaks done there and brake still squealing when stopping. Spoke with Paul when he was there told me to come back. Call the next day no answer, went back to the shop and the gate was closed. I kept calling now the voice messaging is completely full for three, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY or YOUR TIME!!!

Excellent and dedicated service! Paul was super helpful in picking up parts for me, even though I came in very late in the day. They showed me what they were doing and did a great job for a pretty reasonable price. Very happy with them, would go back again.

These guys are a waste of Time, I've been a customer with this shop for since 2001, when the owner Glenn was alive he went out of his way to help me with my car. I'm very disappointed with the service his Brother Louie, he did help get me a rebuilt starter and battery, to try and fix the problem. Then after so many trys to get my car working, I had no choice but to have it towed to the shop. I explained that my tags were expired and it can't be ticketed because it could be towed. He said "Don't Worry we Move cars around all the time" So after many calls asking about the car, they call me asking "Where Is Your car?" I was shocked they had allowed it to be ticketed and towed. After realizing my car was gone, and I didn't have the money to get it back, So I asked them what they were going to do to get my car back, they said "We Don't Owe You Anything" So now I'm taking them to court over this Lose. I would tell anyone "Don't Waste Your Time Or Money Here" A disappointed Former Customer.

5 months later my car is still in the shop. This shop mechanic says he's is closing and it has no more money to pay his mistakes.
