Guests call out dishes that span several styles and cravings. Jalapeño crab rangoons are a standout in one review, while the grass-fed beef burger is praised for being juicy and cooked just right. Fish and chips, served with Southie Irish curry mayo and fries, also gets enthusiastic mentions; one guest especially liked the sauce and generous fries, though noted that the fish portion felt small for the price. The experience is about more than choosing a dish. Reviewers describe the ambiance as fun and eclectic, and praise the staff as kind, capable, and down to earth. One Saturday dinner guest arrived without a reservation and was accommodated, finding the restaurant relatively quiet around 5 p.m. before it grew lively later in the evening. That account suggests the room can shift from relaxed to buzzing as dinner progresses, making it a fit for both an early meal and a more animated night out. Food presentation also earns positive notice, adding a thoughtful visual touch to the meal.
Moonshine 152 may suit couples, friends, families, and small groups looking for an informal dinner in Boston, especially when the table wants options that feel a little different from a standard burger or fish-and-chips meal. It is also worth considering for diners who like Southern-style comfort food and bold pairings, including curry mayo with fries or crab rangoons with a jalapeño kick. Guest opinions on individual portions and dishes are not uniform: some praise the food enthusiastically, while others have found particular items less compelling for their price. That mix of specific feedback can help set expectations and make ordering a more personal choice. For a casual meal on Dorchester Avenue, Moonshine 152 stands out in reviews for its welcoming service, lively character, and broad, inventive range of comfort-food favorites.

Wonderful service and amazing food presentation; actual food we had was okay. Fried chicken was "too" tender for my liking (did not realise that could be a thing; likely precooked and then fried to crisp it up), and the batter on the fish and chips was a little overly dense. At its set price-point would have loved it to have been a little better. Sauces were delicious and fries were great.

The food here is so good it practically qualifies as a religious experience. Portions are generous. For anyone craving southern comfort or looking for food with that extra flair, chef Asia's Mai culinary expertise is sure to satisfy. The staff is kind, capable, and down to earth, with the head chef herself serving food to table and ensuring a fantastic experience. Pictured - Twin-Mei breakfast sandwiches, biscuits with pepper gravy, a side of corned beef hash, French toast sticks, a side of roast duck, and a pina colada custard.
