Northside Hair Salon is a neighborhood hair salon in Berkeley, California, at 1816 Euclid Ave, Berkeley, CA 94709. It is a practical local choice for people looking for a carefully handled haircut in the Berkeley area rather than a one-size-fits-all visit. With a publicly listed 4.9 rating from 42 reviews, the salon has drawn notable positive feedback from clients who value skill, attentive communication, and results they feel good about wearing home.
Haircuts are the clearest focus in customer feedback. Reviewers describe professional cuts, including a barbershop-style fade, and repeatedly point to listening before and during the service. That attention can matter when a client has a clear preference for length, shape, or styling details. One customer who has returned for more than six years says their stylist understands the aspects of their Asian hair that are important to them, while another describes leaving satisfied after repeat visits. These accounts suggest a salon experience centered on individual input and considered haircut work.
Several reviews specifically mention LeAnn, describing her as thoughtful, careful, patient, talented, and consistent. Clients also call out the ease of giving directions and feedback, which is useful for anyone who wants a stylist to take their preferences seriously rather than make assumptions. A customer who comes monthly praises both the haircut and the reasonable cost, while another calls the service a great value and a pleasant experience. The feedback is personal rather than generic: it speaks to the reassurance of returning to a local salon where a client feels heard.
The Euclid Avenue address gives local searchers a clear Berkeley destination for routine trims and more defined haircut requests. Customers seeking a barber-influenced finish may appreciate the reported fade experience, while people who prefer to discuss length and feedback can find those qualities reflected in reviews. Because the strongest details come from individual customers, a direct conversation about the look you want remains a helpful way to set expectations. The overall picture is of a local hair salon valued for care, communication, and repeat-client trust.
Northside Hair Salon suits Berkeley residents and nearby visitors seeking a straightforward haircut, a fade, or ongoing hair maintenance with an attentive approach. It may be especially appealing to clients who have had trouble finding a salon that listens closely to their requests, including people with specific hair textures or familiar styling routines. The business is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed Monday and Sunday. For a Berkeley, CA hair salon visit near Euclid Avenue, its customer feedback highlights careful service, professional haircutting, and a pleasant local experience.

Sign in to reviewIf you want a bad haircut and customer service, then this is the place for you! The first time I went, Marilou cut my hair badly and was not open to suggestion. So, I decided to try LeAnn and made an appointment. I arrived exactly on time, which was early in the day to prevent back up, but she had not even started on the person before me. She did not apologize and did not seem to care at all. And the place is dirty...
Update: Still excellent! I highly recommend this local business. Excellent haircut, a great value for the cost, pleasant experience. The owner of the shop listened to me and she did a very professional job on my haircut: a barbershop-type fade. Highly recommend!
I don't often leave five-star reviews because I feel most places have some room for improvement. Not with LeAnn -- she's as perfect a barber as I've ever had cut my hair. She's thoughtful, careful, and consistent. And her prices are so reasonable that I can afford to visit her every month.
It's really easy to go to LeAnn. She is extremely talented, patient, great at listening for directions and feedback. I've been going to her for 6+ years; I've had so many bad experiences at other salons that just don't "get" how to work with my type of Asian hair. LeAnn knows where length is important and where it's okay to shape shorter hair. I recommend having a reference photo. I usually ask for a trim and texture on top, keeping some length for styling + 2-3 fade on the sides + natural edge for back of neck and sideburns.
I’ve been a repeat customer now for about a year and have yet to get a haircut I don’t love, if you’re looking for a spot that is sure to leave you walking home happy then I recommend you check them out. Will say that they have raised their prices from when I first started going here but for the quality of work is worth the price.
