That kind of organized support makes Oakland Public Library a strong fit for local history research, genealogy projects, school assignments, writers, and anyone exploring a specific topic connected to the area. I like the books here. Also the computer keyboards are easier to write on than the Berkeley libraries. You now get 10 pages free printing per day. The computer will ask you if you want to extend time if there is enough computers available. Its a good feeling in here with the sunbeams providing warm lighting so you don't feel cooped up indoors. I like to go here to write. I'm glad there's a drinking water dispenser to fill up a water bottle when I'm there all day. I think they should have a mobile showers and laundry unit parked outside to accommodate the unhoused population that goes to the library to better themselves. However it seemed fewer unhoused unshelled persons have been going here since the main library was closed during renovations. There are seed packets in the old card catalog to take home and plant.

The History Center on the 2nd floor was amazing. I made an appointment, and the staff was ready with research copied and pulled, along with suggestions for further research on my topic. Kudos!

A good resource, right outside of Lake Merritt. I haven't looked at the books and items up for borrowing, but I've come here thrice now to study and charge up. I don't like the layout of the library much, it made me go in circles, but that's a personal thing. Everyone is quiet and respectful. It's also nice to be able to see the outside through the large windows. Overall, 4/5.
