Oakland VA Clinic is a veterans hospital and community clinic serving veterans in Oakland, CA, with a convenient location at 2221 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, CA 94612. For veterans living in Oakland and the wider East Bay, this clinic can be an important local access point for VA health services without requiring every visit to be made across the bay or to a larger regional VA facility. Its weekday schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., makes it most suitable for planned appointments, routine follow-ups, and daytime care needs.

Based on available patient feedback, Oakland VA Clinic is associated with core healthcare services such as primary care, radiology, and vision care. These services are especially relevant for veterans who need ongoing medical support, screenings, imaging, eye-related care, or coordination within the VA system. As a veterans hospital in Oakland, CA, the clinic appears to function as a practical neighborhood resource for eligible veterans who prefer receiving care closer to home in the East Bay.

The experience described by visitors is mixed, which is important for patients to know before choosing or visiting the clinic. Some reviewers describe the clinic as valuable, essential, and capable of providing excellent care, including warm greetings and positive healthcare experiences. Others report concerns about organization, phone communication, professionalism, facility conditions, access through locked doors, and staff interactions. With a public rating of 3.2 from 45 reviews, the picture is not one-sided; it reflects both appreciation for having local VA services in Oakland and frustration from veterans who expected smoother, more responsive support.

For Vietnamese families, caregivers, and veterans researching care options, Oakland VA Clinic may be worth considering when VA-connected healthcare is needed in the East Bay. It is best suited for veterans who already understand their eligibility, can schedule during weekday business hours, and want local access to services such as primary care, radiology, or vision rather than traveling farther for every need. Because some reviews mention difficulty with communication and access, patients may want to confirm appointment details, bring necessary identification or VA paperwork, and allow extra time when visiting.

Overall, Oakland VA Clinic fills a specific role in the Oakland, CA healthcare landscape: it provides nearby VA services for veterans who live, work, or receive support in the East Bay. The clinic is not described as perfect, and public feedback shows real concerns alongside positive experiences. Still, for veterans who need a local veterans hospital or VA community clinic connection, this Oakland location remains a relevant option to explore with clear expectations, preparation, and attention to scheduling.

Why does this VA facility have locked doors? Why can't a veteran just walk up and enter without someone allowing them in. This is highly suspicious. As a veteran, I see they don't respect our First Amendment Rights. This VA center receives a grade of 'F'

The Oakland VA Clinic provides valuable local health services to veterans, including primary care, radiology, and vision. The location is essential for residents of the East Bay who would otherwise have to travel to the VA hospital in San Francisco or Marttinez. I have zero complaints about the quality of the service and the utmost praise for the staff over the past several years.

Worst hospital I’ve ever been to in my life. Unorganized, don’t return phone calls, dirty, everyone in there has a bad attitude, they treat us like dirt and we fought for this country. Pretty sad indeed. They should be ashamed of themselves. Horrific service in every single way. Seems like it’s so bad that it’s just set up for failure. They are just waiting for us to die. Not surprising that these reviews are so horrible after reading many of them I’m not surprised. Get it together. You should all be fired. And, for the record I’ve been going there for many years and now all of the ins and outs of this place. Ridiculous!!!!!!!

The employees are very unprofessional! The video of the staff acting out because they were being checked on by a public citizen is sad. Thank goodness there were a few higher ups that finally gave them the memo on our rights. Dr. Libby is horrible!

I recently visited the VA Oakland Community Clinic for my healthcare needs and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with the level of care I received. Contrary to some negative reviews I've come across, my experience was nothing short of excellent. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted warmly by the staff who were incredibly professional and attentive. The facility itself was clean, organized, and conducive to a comfortable healthcare experience. What truly stood out to me was the dedication and expertise of the medical professionals. The doctors and nurses took the time to listen to my concerns, address them with care, and provided me with comprehensive explanations and guidance throughout my visit. It was evident that they were genuinely invested in my well-being, which greatly reassured me as a patient. Moreover, the efficiency of the clinic was commendable. Despite being busy, appointments were punctual, and I never felt rushed during consultations. This made a significant difference in my overall experience and left me with a sense of confidence in the healthcare provided at this facility. In addition to the exceptional medical care, I found the support services offered at the clinic to be invaluable.
