Got to know of this place from one of the post from Andrew Zimmern. Went on a Saturday late afternoon. Parking is little tricky as it’s a small lot in a busy street, so you may have to look for parking in the neighborhood. Got seated right away, atmosphere was relaxed. Everything looked very authentic. Ordered a miso soup to start with which was decent, followed by a onigiri. That was the best onigiri I ever had. Ordered a Karaage which is a Japanese fried chicken very different from fried chicken that we are used to. And finally ordered a yaki udon with steak which was very flavorful and delicious. Definitely would recommend this place and come back again.

Was in the neighborhood and looking for a new spot to try- so glad I found OK Yaki! Our waiter was super welcoming and made great recommendations for our first visit. The patio was the perfect seating for the first day of nice weather. The Udon & Okonomiyaki were both really nice and fresh. The Hiyashi Kyuuri and the tonkatsu were a bit disappointing and one-note flavor wise. Next time we visit we’ll just try different starters.

The okonomiyaki is absolutely incredible, they live up to their name!! Great vegetarian options too for toppings etc though be prepared for a small amount of meat. Udon was solid but the tofu inside was terrible Overall mostly a hit but could have some improvement. No problems with service, we were served fast even in a busy late night hour.

OK Yaki is legit. We went around 7:00 PM on a weekday and The atmosphere is exactly what you want— lively without being a zoo. Staff knows what they’re doing and makes you feel welcome. Drinks are solid, food is authentic, and nothing on the menu feels like it was dumbed down for a broad audience. This place does it right.

When visiting Ok Yaki on a Friday night, the place with abuzz with merriment and energy. Definitely a happening place. Yet the food turned out to be average. I was expecting fireworks but instead found a gentle fizzle. Only one dish really impressed us – the Karaage – considering its great flavor, juiciness, and crispiness. The gyozas, on the other hand, we’re limp and flavorless. Every other dish we ordered was good yet unremarkable. That included a large okonomiyaki, the yaki udon, age-onigiri, tonkatsu, hiyashi kyuuri, and the teppan steak. We spent $127 for a four-person dinner, before tipping (no alcohol, no dessert, 2 mocktails, 6 small plates, and 3 main entrées). We won’t be returning to Ok Yaki.
