Let's be honest, the line outside Phe was insane, It looped all the way behind the building. Good thing I was not alone. I have to say the line did moved rather fast. SERVICE 5/5 Staff from the counter taking order to the gentleman who cleaned our table and brought out our food were really friendly and pleasant. BANANA PUDDING MATCHA LATTE/SLIDERS/SHOESTRING FRIES 4/5 Banana Pudding Matcha Latte - 6/5 (One extra star!!) Each of us ordered the Banana Pudding Matcha Latte, and let me say if there is one drink you want to order here, get the Banana Pudding Matcha Latte!! It was so yummy, so delicious and the best!! It was a good quality matcha latte with a creamy dessert. Best of both world! Sliders 4/5 Love them!! The buns were so soft, and the sliders were so comforting. I had to dock off one point since they were not too generous with the bacon. Half of the sliders had no bacon :( Shoestring fries 4/5 I usually like crinkle cut fries, but these were so addicting until it just gotten too salty at the bottom. AMBIANCE 5/5 It was a huge place and even though it was packed, people here did not hoard the seats for hours. It was lively and I was so glad to come here during my first visit to Seattle. Now I can tell everyone the best banana pudding matcha latte is right here at Phe in Seattle!! 08.30.2026
Quality is great, service is great, and yes they freshly whisk their matcha for each order! Although expect a crowd or at least for it to be busy. First time we went around before they closed, no line but still quite a bit of people around in the sitting area and they ran out of Banana Pudding Matcha so I got the strawberry and my friend got the Coconut water matcha. Second time we went around noon and the line was out the door! The staff handle busy hours super well and kind, kudos to them for doing their best! I was able to get the Banana Pudding Matcha and it was well worth the wait. Although note that if you prefer your matcha sweet or sweeter generally, it was barley sweet at all, but the Matcha itself was good the Banana Pudding itself was super nasty and fresh. The toffee bits compliment it well. (They make the Banana Pudding itself in batches). Otherwise my friend got a Coconut Water Matcha once again, and they seem consistent because they said it tastes the same! The aeshtetic of the inside is also modern, cozy, and cute. Otherwise note that they are a bit on the pricier side.
Overhyped & Underwhelming — Only for Beginners I genuinely have no idea why there’s a 20 to 30-minute lineup for this place. Sure, they whisk the matcha fresh per order, but if the final product doesn't deliver on taste, the wait simply isn't worth it. I came here looking for a quality matcha and asked for their richest, most umami blend. They offer three types: • Hoa (Floral) • Đậu (Edamame) • Itsumi (First harvest, earthy, umami) The staff recommended the Itsumi. While the color was vibrant and picture-perfect, the taste was completely bland and flat—zero richness or real depth. It’s the kind of matcha that might trick an entry-level drinker because it looks great in pictures, but as an avid matcha drinker, it was a huge letdown. Since they do both matcha and Vietnamese coffee, I also tried their Cà Phê Muối (Salt Coffee). Unfortunately, it was just as underwhelming and disappointing as the matcha. The only real positive here is the atmosphere. It’s a cute spot with a cool garage-style layout, offering a mix of standard table seating and those classic short street-style stools that give a nice nod to Vietnam. Bottom line: If you’re brand new to matcha or Vietnamese coffee, you might find it fine. But if you actually know and appreciate authentic, high-quality matcha or proper Vietnamese coffee, save yourself the 30-minute wait. Beautiful aesthetics, very little substance.
I was in Seattle for a conference and only had about two days to explore, so I had to be selective with the places I wanted to try. Phe was definitely on my list, especially because I wanted to try their drinks (social media pics look so …
I genuinely was excited to try this spot and was disappointed. :( I am always looking for a quality smooth matcha with complex notes. The staff recommended the Hanami (creamy and earthy). The color is stunning, bright, deep and beautiful for pictures. But the flavor was flat and had such a bitter aftertaste. As a matcha lover and purist I typically always get unsweetened to really taste the matcha. I could barely finish this latte even after adding a little simply syrup to offset the bitterness. I agree with other reviews that the matcha might be great for beginners, but if you know and enjoy quality authentic matcha, you will be disappointed. The cafe is a great vibe, they fresh whisk every matcha order and also offer Vietnamese coffee. If you like flavored and exciting drinks, definitely try this spot. If you are looking for a pure tea experience I would pass.
